Mohegan Sun has joined forces with Suffolk Downs in the battle to secure a license in Massachusetts in order to build a casino in Revere.

This is not the first time that Mohegan Sun made the US gambling news headlines.Back in November, the New England casino lost its bid to gain voters’approval to build a casino in the state of Massachusetts.

Mohegan Sun is determined to build a casino is Revere, and has joined forces with Suffolk Downs, the latter of which received local support in the area.

The two companies showed progress earlier last week, when Mohegan signed a host community agreement with Revere. In order to win voters over, Mohegan said that the town of Revere could earn at least $40 million in annual payments.

Getting a license for a casino is not an easy task, especially since US gambling laws are some of the strictest in the West, so Mohegan Sun must do a good job to convince state regulators to issue one.

Mohegan Sun also cited local employment as a benefit in its proposal, which could help to win approval votes from locals in the area.

Mohegan Sun is fighting hard to get its casino license, but the proof of the pudding lies in the residents’ vote, which will take place on the 25 February, and faces stiff competition from Steve Wynn, who is also vying for a casino license in the eastern part of the state.
