Neil McArthur Appointed New UKGC CEO

Sarah Harrison has left her position as Executive Chief of the UK Gambling Commission after 8 years under this title due to her decision to instead take on a senior position at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. On the 28th of February 2018 Neil McArthur filled the vacant position by becoming the new Gambling Commission Chief Executive.

The New UKGC CEO started out as a Gambling Regulator in 2006 before working his way up to Executive director ten years later. McArthur stated “I’m looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead to make gambling fairer and safer. I am really proud of the Commission’s achievements over the last 12 years, but there is a lot more to do.”

New UKGC CEO to be a man of ambition

McArthur graduated as a solicitor in 1997 before adding a post-graduate diploma in local government law from the College of Law to his rich resume. Gambling news in the UK cite him as a man of ambition.. The Chair of the Gambling Commission holds the New UKGC CEO in high regard: “I’m looking forward to working even more closely with Neil as he leads the Commission to make significant progress in raising standards, protecting consumers and the public from gambling-related harm and improving the performance of the National Lottery.’’
