New Czech Gambling Laws on their Way

The new Czech gambling laws were approved by the senate with 42 votes in favor and zero opposing.

Gambling is legal in the Czech Republic, however, internet gambling is restricted by certain laws. On Thursday, the Senate has voted in favor of the new Czech gambling laws
, that would allow foreign operators to enter the country’s market. According to Czech gambling news, if the president approves the laws, all online casinos that are licensed in the EU and the European Economic Area will be free to accept wagers from Czech citizens. Along with the laws, a new taxation system will also come into force.

30 days to sign the new Czech gambling laws

Lotteries and bookmakers will have to pay 23% of their gross revenue, while online casinos will be required to pay 35% of their revenue. The usual 19% corporate tax will also apply to them. Furthermore, the new Czech gambling laws include measures to protect vulnerable citizens, such as an exclusion database that would let players to block themselves from accessing Czech internet casinos. Bankrupt citizens and ones that receive financial assistance will be automatically added to the exclusion list. President Miloš Zeman has 30 days to sign or reject the document.
