Norwegian casino player hits the $914K Microgaming Progressive Jackpot at Unibet.

Norwegian gambling news reported the payout of an impressive NOK 5.4 million (about US $914,000) win of a lucky gambler in their country.

A 35-year-old Norwegian gambler from an undisclosed location was playing the recently released “The Dark Knight” online slot at the at Unibet internet casino. He was playing for well over an hour when he hit the jackpot.

The Norwegian online casino is powered by Microgaming, and the massive payout was through the Microgaming Progressive Jackpot Network.

Microgaming’s Progressive Jackpot paid out one single cash payment to the Unibet player unlike the industry norm of staggered payments.

The player who wished to remain anonymous commented: “I had no idea what was happening. At first, I thought I had won 5,000 Kroner (about $90), and I remember thinking ‘wow, that will be a nice Christmas present for my girlfriend’”.

The unidentified Norwegian gambler went on: “But the amount kept increasing and surely enough it displayed 5 million (about $900,000) Kroner.”

The lucky winner said: “I couldn’t believe it, I was in shock. I rang the Unibet customer service department so that I could get confirmation of the win! They did. I was still in shock.”

We suspect that the winnings are subject to levies according to Norwegian gambling laws, however, the information is not confined by the casino yet.

One of the biggest online casino networks, the Microgaming Progressive Jackpot Network, has paid out EUR 320 million in total to date.

Christmas came early for this lucky gambler from Norway. We congratulate him. Almost a million dollars is a lot of money, even after taxes, and even in Norway, which is one of the most expensive countries in the world, especially considering alcohol prices.
