With Japan exploring options of introducing a gaming industry to their shores, Osaka has emerged as one of the most promising candidates to build large-scale casinos.

Gambling news reports that when big-name gaming corporations decide to go forward with their plans and build a casino, they don’t expect to rely on occasional gamblers that enjoy to play a game or two at their tables. No, they want to see players that can easily spend several millions of whatever currency without ever batting an eye about how much they left at the tables.

These players are known as “whales” in the gaming industry while generally people more commonly refer to them as high rollers. These sort of players make the casinos they visit profitable, and without them there would be no serious business. Now Osaka is the latest city to be considering its options of building massive casinos to benefit from the whales.

Gaming industry brings a great deal of benefits

• Osaka primes whales for its potential casino success

• Tokyo 2020 Olympics help the cause to push forward with gaming plans

• Chinese players are considered to be the biggest whales

In recent times Japan has held strong discussions pertaining to the country establishing a regulated gambling industry considering all the possible benefits to the economy associated with the profitable business. Japanese gambling laws dictate that gaming activities which involve cash as a final reward are illegal. However many players regularly engage in what is called a Pachinko, a machine that rewards players with certain goods and products.

With the Tokyo Olympics 2020 fast approaching, the Japanese government has been motivated to look at possible business opportunities associated with staging one of the world’s greatest sporting events. The Olympics will definitely attract a great of interest from all spheres of commerce to come to Japan and benefit from the major sporting competition, which also involves the lucrative gaming business.

While many government officials still remain indecisive on the matter and cannot reach a final solution, the leadership from Osaka looks primed to be one of the first to boats an ambitious gaming complex. The pro-casino lobby (the sharks) believe that if they build a high-scale casino with all the most modern gaming pursuits, then many of large whales from the region would flock to the city’s shores to gamble much of their millions.

Chinese gamblers are viewed as the biggest casino players

According to mobile betting sites, Japanese officials view Chinese gamblers as the biggest potential clients to come to their casinos and spend money. However, although the leadership of Osaka have grand ambitions about their possible gaming center, there are some concerns regarding the logistical matters. Current plans indicate that a casino may be most suited for Yumeshima, which is a man-made island in Osaka harbor.

The questions that have been raised over this have to do with the distance that separates Yumeshima from the airport, which is considered to be quite far away. Will Chinese gamblers have the patience to fly in on their private jets just to travel for an hour or so through heavy traffic all in order to gamble? Well, actually it appears that they would, expect they would most probably use a helicopter instead of a car to get them from the airport to the casino.

Another concern has been voiced by the opposition regarding the casino service. Many of the gaming firms that are quite well politically connected, normally produce slot machines used by the masses overseas. Chinese gamblers are more prone to play lower-tech games that have yield much bigger gains that just normal slots. In order to facilitate this need, dealers, waiters and casino personnel will all need to possess the ability to appeal to their Chinese customers.

They will have to both be keen linguistically and culturally to make the players feel at home so that they would come back to the casino in the future and would actually make a dedicated client of the business. Should Osaka officials not realize the need to adjust their catering and gaming services to suit the needs of their biggest players, then the proposed casino could run into some serious problems. They could in fact lost the potential whales.
