PR from online poker room PKR may have claimed the website to be more than just another poker site in the United Kingdom, but now they have proof, as PKR has been named the most successful *technology* company in Britain in this year’s Sunday Times Tech Track 100.

The metric tracks Britain’s private tech companies for sales over a three-year period. In this three-year span, PKR has gone from a simple software startup to a presence in the online poker world. With annual sales growth during the time of the survey going from £347,000 to £33 million plus, PKR recorded an insane 356% growth rate, nearly double that of the second-place finisher, the email solutions provider Mimecast.

PKR has risen from obscurity onto the list of top British poker rooms online by means of its original 3D technology which allows players to design their own characters to play with; animation add-ons such as the avatar’s ability to do tricks with poker chips are awarded when players reach certain levels of expertise.

London-based PKR was founded in 2004 and today employs over 100. PKR.com now boasts over 4 million registered users and has most recently won the industry nod as “Poker Operator of the Year” at the 2010 International Gaming Awards.
