Play’n GO was licensed to provide its vast online game portfolio on the Romanian gambling market.

Online table game and slots specialist, Play’n GO, announced that it acquired a Romanian gambling license from the Romanian National Gambling Office. With the license, the Swedish game developer will be able to provide its content to online casinos in Romania. According to Play’n GO, there’s a high demand for their premium games in the eastern European country, which has recently overhauled its gambling legislation.

CEO of Play’n GO, Johan Törnquist, declared this a landmark day for the Swedish company. “We are delighted to have been awarded a gaming licence for Romania, a growing market that we have had our eyes on for some time,” said Törnqvist. As of now, the company’s games are available in 32 languages at more than 100 online casino operators worldwide. According to Törnquist, Romanian online casino players won’t have to wait for too long to enjoy Play’n GO games, as there are numerous sites interested in their content.

New Romanian gambling laws for online casino and betting sites

Romania gambling laws undertook huge changes in the previous months. Operators that’d like to offer their services in the country, must have a Romanian, EU or EEA residency and must acquire all the relevant licenses from the Romanian gambling regulator. An online gambling license is granted for a 10-year period at a EUR 8,500/year fee. The submitted documents are analyzed for a EUR 2,500 fee. The operators must sort all their finances through a Romanian bank. Furthermore, online gambling sites are required to contribute EUR 5,000 to the country’s Gambling Prevention program.
