PokerStars is launching its biggest challenge yet: the 2014 Spring Championship of Online Poker.

Professional and amateur players registered with the online poker site in the UK, as well as in other countries where PokerStars is available, can qualify for the tournament via the website. This will be the biggest poker challenge ever, with 45 events and 135 tournaments for low, medium and high stakes players.

PokerStars has really outdone itself this year, but it’s not just about the size of the event. This year’s Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) will have a never-before-seen guaranteed $40 million prize pool.

Poker at a whole new level

SCOOP will take place between May 4 and 18 and it will include three events every day, as well as re-entry tournaments and Progressive Super-Knockouts.

But the highlight of the latest gambling news is the Main Event, scheduled for May 18 at 14.30 ET. Buy-ins range from $109 to $10,300, depending on the stakes and there are guaranteed prize pools of $1m, $2m and $3m for low, medium and high stakes respectively.

In addition, there is a $21,000 High Roller Heads-Up tournament on May 17 that should attract many of the world’s top players and make for a great event to watch.
