Montreal Canadiens vs Detroit Red Wings

The Montreal Canadiens had a strong start to the season, but since December started the Habs have been faltering. They’re currently on a two-game losing streak, and most of the blame could be put on rookie goalie Mike Condon, who’s been playing more since Carey Price was injured. While he too had had a good start to the season, Condon’s been letting more goals in than ever, having allowed three or more goals in seven of his last nine starts. Though not all the blame can be placed on goaltending, as the offense has been struggling as well—very unusual for a team who’s currently ranked 2nd in the league in scoring (3.3gpg).

In direct opposition, the Detroit Red Wings are on an upswing. While US gambling news outlets were wary of their weak season start, they’ve since proved their critics wrong, having had a good three game win streak going prior to losing in a 3-2 shootout to the Washington Capitals the other day. Though it was a tough-earned victory for the Capitals: The Red Wings were playing very well against Washington, Jimmy Howard and Alex Ovechkin in particular.

While Detroit’s undeniably a strong, consistent team, we’re going to go with the underdogs this match. Even with their recent slump, Montreal remains a top NHL betting pick and has more than enough talent on the team to bounce back, ranking 5th in the league for goals per game, 4th in goals against, 6th in power plays, and 3rd in penalty kill. Bet on the Habs snapping out of their funk and taking down Detroit tonight.

Buffalo Sabres vs Calgary Flames

Things aren’t looking good for the Buffalo Sabres, who’ve lost three of their last four games. While they’ve showed improvement from last year, they’re still far from being NHL 2015/16 playoffs material and remain at the bottom of NHL betting picks. Which is unfortunate, as they’ve got some good players who are being dragged down by a bad team. One player that comes to mind in particular is Jack Eichel, the 19 year old rookie sensation who’s fast becoming one of the few good things about the Sabres this season.

Meanwhile, the young Calgary Flames are on fire, having won their seventh game in a row on Tuesday after defeating the San Jose Sharks 4-2. The goals from Markus Grunlund, Sean Monahan, Michael Frolik, and Mikhael Backlund reminded fans of hockey and online casinos in US that Calgary’s offense is a big part of why they’ve maintained this incredibly long home winning streak. Though it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that the whole team is playing their best right now; how else would they have defeated elite teams such as the Bruins, Stars, and Blackhawks in their last few games?

Without a doubt, our odds for December 10 NHL games point towards the Flames to win tonight. The team is now just four points away from a playoff spot in the Pacific Division—shocking, considering they were last place in NHL standings just a week ago! They’re definitely in the fighting spirit, and will do whatever it takes to take down the Sabres tonight. Though really, given the state of the Sabres right now, we don’t think it’ll be that hard to do.

Prediction: Calgary Flames win 1.59 (59/100) at GTbets
