As the Academy announces the nominees, you can almost hear the sighs of relief. Look, they’ve chosen some women and black people this year. Aren’t they inclusive? Who could ever have thought otherwise? However, beyond this wonderful harmony the Oscars suddenly represent a nightmare lurks. The Golden Globes proved that the odds on the 2021 Oscars going without a hitch are so short online sportsbook sites in the US like Bet365 wouldn’t even give you a price.
The Golden Globes were awful. That’s not just my opinion. It’s an observable fact. Just go back and watch them if you don’t believe me. Without Ricky Jervais to give it a pub-quiz feel the online ceremony fell flat. This wasn’t because the hosts were bad. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are safe pairs of hands. It’s simply that online these things just don’t work. Robbed of the glitz and glamour of the red carpet and buzzing auditorium, the odds on the 2021 Oscars going well are nil.
It’s one thing to see stars of the silver screen dressed up to the nines, radiating all those aspirational riches. We can enjoy their shimmer. It’s quite another to see them sat at home on the sofa just like the rest of us. This is especially true of those overseas awake at horrid hours of the morning. Those of us in Europe who’ll take advantage of the odds on the 2021 Oscars the online betting sites in the US like Bet365 are offering won’t stay up to watch it. But if they nominate you…..
Online Ceremony Nightmare May Await Oscars
This means we’ll get to see what Anthony Hopkins looks like when he loses whilst half awake. He’s 8/1 to win the Best Actor award behind shoo-in Chadwick Boseman at 1/20. It’ll be an horrific small hour of the morning when he has to take that dive. It’s almost cruelty to the elderly. Of course, you can bet on the 2021 Oscars to try and mix things up and keep it fresh. The odds on the 2021 Oscars getting that right are laughable. The Award Show format is tired and now looks it.
Bet On Best Picture
- The Father – 80/1
- Sound of Metal – 66/1
- Judas And The Black Messiah – 20/1
- Mank – 16/1
- Promising Young Woman – 14/1
- Minari – 11/1
- The Trial of the Chicago 7 – 4/1
- Nomadland – 4/11
Unfortunately, in the same way the Academy thinks it can sweep past issues under the carpet, it’ll believe it can fix this. That it’ll be different. That it will work. Of course, this is a very different issue. This isn’t a perception problem brought on by years of neglect and apathy (at best), this is the real world. You wouldn’t bet on sports in the US if the sports were dull. Likewise, the odds on the 2021 Oscars getting good ratings are quite lengthy. Who wants to watch people lag out?
Odds On The 2021 Oscars Close At Bet365
Even if the technology works flawlessly – and it just won’t, will it? – the inevitability of some winners makes this a bit of snore-fest. The nominees might be inclusive, but the odds on the 2021 Oscars don’t point to many surprises. They forgot to include actual competition. Still there are a few possibilities. David Fincher and Chloe Zhao are both in with a shot for Best Director, but in these woke times she’s the better bet. This perhaps may be the saving grace of the ceremony.
Odds On Best Actor
- Steve Yeun – 25/1
- Gary Oldman – 25/1
- Riz Ahmed – 14/1
- Anthony Hopkins – 8/1
- Chadwick Boseman – 1/20

No, not that a woman might win, but that David Fincher may lose. At the Golden Globes he seems apt to drink a shot each time he lost. Perhaps we’ll see a repeat of this salute to defeat at the Oscars. Some hope all the losers will join in. Perhaps the Academy do. They’re going to need something. Perhaps a miracle. Meanwhile, those of us taking advantage of US gambling laws to grab the better of the odds on the 2021 Oscars have choices to make. Albeit it quite easy ones.
We take a look at the odds on the 2021 Oscars and just what chances it has of avoiding disaster during the ceremony.
