Las Vegas South Point Hotel Casino and Spa aims to operate one of the first legal online poker sites in the United States.

It has been almost a year since South Point Hotel Casino and Spa in Las Vegas has secured an online gambling license from Nevada Gambling Commission in full compliance with American gambling laws. The Casino is said to re-brand its online gambling offerings as “Real Gaming” and plans to enter the US market pretty soon.

South Point was to become the first legal operator of online poker sites in United States having received the first ever American license. However, the company was overtaken by Ultimate Poker in that respect. Nevertheless, South Point Poker is said to be ready for market entry, powered by renowned software supplier Zen Entertainment.

Currently, the casino is offering free-play poker games under the South Point Poker brand name. According to American gambling news, the company will launch its real-money poker gaming under the Real Gaming brand. It’s yet uncertain if they will abandon the free-play version, or keep it to cater to players from other states, where real-gaming is yet prohibited.

Unfortunately, there’s still no launch date announced for Real Gaming product, however, all signs point to a very near introduction. All South Point Casino customers have already been given the chance to register for the upcoming online poker site, and the independent testing of the room is said to be completed in the beginning of August.

If and when South Point finally launches its real-money online poker room, Nevada will be able to offer multiple online poker sites to residents of the state on a legal basis. This is regarded by industry experts and players alike as a big step forward for legal and regulated online gambling industry in the USA.
