An Italian gambler is suing one of online casinos in Italy for nearly one million dollars.

After depositing 20 euros in the account, the gambler started playing online lottery-like games and, few hours later, won a sum equivalent to a million dollars. However, the site is claiming that there was a bug in the system which allowed the punter to win so much with so little money. The court will now decide.

Winning large sums with small bets isn’t surprising at quality online casinos. Many of these offer such games as online slots where a single spin can trigger a progressive multi-million jackpot. A respectable online casino will not seek to avoid paying the money to the winner, but rather will promote the win as much as possible to attract more clients.

The Italian gambling laws allow for various kinds of betting and Italians just love to do it. As much as $55 billion is spent annually in Italy on gambling, which makes it one of the most desirable markets.

In addition to land-based and online casinos, the online sportsbooks in Italy attract punters’s money, especially when it comes to the Italian passion, football. Serie A and Serie B betting attracts many even despite the recent scandals with game-fixing.

Now, with Euro 2012 Football Championships, the Italian punters are having a fiesta betting their money on the Italian team.
