Everyone in F1 bet on Lewis Hamilton in 2020 after his win last year. Online betting sites in the UK like Bet365 offer just 4/6 on him being champion again. Ferrari, for their part, is distinctly quiet about their chances, and even Red Bull are less than bullish. It may well be 2020 is the fallow year before rule changes in 2021. Not that the drivers are really concentrating on that at present. So, right now, they’re way too busy being just about as hypocritical as it’s possible to be.

“It saddens me deeply to know that over 1 billion animals in Australia died a painful death.” Said Lewis Hamilton. “I can’t help but grieve for the defenceless animals thought to have died so far.” In addition, the World Champion donated $500,000 to the Bushfire funds, and told Australia to “keep fighting.” F1 bet on Lewis Hamilton in 2020 knowing he’s driven to beat Schumi’s record. They hope it’ll pull in the crowds. If he keeps up this level of hypocrisy, however, it might not.

Given climate change is at the root of the fires, it’s a bit rich for anyone in F1 to lament them. These guys fly everywhere. Their carbon footprint for logistics alone is ridiculous. Indeed part of the F1 bet on Lewis Hamilton in 2020 is the green agenda. His newfound “woke” persona something F1 wishes to leverage. Those who like to bet on sports in the UK can thus expect more of these outbursts. Just don’t expect Hamilton to take any responsibility, despite all the evidence.

There is even doubt the Australian Grand Prix will go ahead at all. At least not at its usual venue. This rumour allowed drivers to wring their hands and hope people will support charitable causes in Australia. F1 bet on Lewis Hamilton in 2020 and he’s doing them proud. Donating money and heading off criticism. Text-book stuff. How could anyone bemoan F1 given all that it is doing to make the world a greener and better place? Alas, I fear it is mercenary marketing at its very worst.

F1 has enough image issues already without a link to 1 billion dead furry animals. It was already over-complex and a little dull without them becoming the koala and kangaroo killers. The F1 bet on Lewis Hamilton in 2020 is a cynical one. His squeaky-clean persona the perfect poster boy for the sport. Most of those taking advantage of UK gambling laws to back him won’t care about hypocrisy. F1 knows this. What it doesn’t know is how far the fires might push the sport itself.

Climate Change Caused Fires Could Spark F1 Troubles

Sport will have an issue with climate change eventually. The endless travel required of international competitions, tours and tournaments is a planet killer. For these sportsmen and women to lecture others on being green, is, frankly, a little disgusting. They exchange pollution for plaudits to satisfy their ego and then lament the results. Much of F1 bet on Lewis Hamilton in 2020, but no one would back his green credentials over the cost of a win. If it came to a choice.

In due course, it will. Just which way the sport and its owners will jump at that point is debatable. Perhaps by then, Formula E will have taken over the mantle as the pinnacle of motorsports. In the meantime, we can all watch the flames in Australia and hope. Don’t bet on the Australian Grand Prix to be moved or cancelled at online sportsbook sites in the UK like Bet365. The odds on the Australian Grand Prix going ahead are nearly as short as my patience with rich hypocrites.
