News has just broke that the Republic of Georgia will soon hire a foreign company to run a national online lottery.

The Republic of Georgia is making some big steps with regards to their lottery. This week, the country’s Ministry of Finance made Georgian gambling news by telling the media they are accepting proposals from companies willing to sign a 10-year agreement to organize and conduct lottery games, as well as run a national online lottery, similar to EuroLotto.

The winning bid is said to be determined by “its understanding of the Georgian lottery market.” The winner must also have a history of operating a commercial lottery, and proof that their lottery generated over $150 million over the past five years. Of course, the highest bid will also be considered a likely winner. It has not been stated exactly what kind of Georgian lottery games will be offered.

Georgia first privatized their lottery in 2009. Two years later, the national postal service took it over. Finally, in 2016 the country is accepting foreign companies to run the show.

What other online lotteries are available in Georgia?

Although online gambling is totally legal inside of Georgia, the national lottery here still does not offer any internet platform. That will change once the government accepts a foreign company to oversee the lottery, but until then online lotto fans in Georgia will need to play through a foreign lottery site such as EuroLotto that accepts Georgian players.

There are many offshore lotteries that players can access here, most of which offer a wide range of lottery games with free lotto online play, including internet scratch cards and weekly draws. Check out GamingZion’s list of online lotto sites in Georgia, and choose the site that’s right for you!
