The book is an eye-opening experience of the traumatizing events that happened already and could still occur and reminds the readers of the many things to feel grateful for! 

The Women's Prize for Fiction in 2023: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver

Another enthralling fiction that is a potential winner of the Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2023. Demon Copperhead might sound familiar, which is no coincidence. The novel adopted the narrative structure from David Copperfield, Charles Dickens’s novel. The Marriage Portrait

Maggie O’Farrel painted such an intense story that readers can easily slip into the main character’s skin. This historical fiction novel is based on real events, but we have to go back to the 16th century first. The plot involves the fifteen-year-old Lucrezia de Medici and her wedding to the 27-year-old Alfonso d’Este, Duke of Ferrara, and their only one year of marriage.  The source of the idea beyond the book is an actual portrait of Lucrezia before she left for her future husband’s court. We know that the marriage did not go well, but we can follow Lucrezia’s point-of-view, her relationship with Alfonso, her inner struggle, and whether she imagines the danger or whether it’s real. Trespasses by Louise Kennedy

The novel Trespasses takes us back in time as well, in Northern Ireland in 1975, to be exact. The story revolves around 24-year-old Cushla Lavery, a catholic schoolteacher near Belfast.
