According to a new report from the UK Gambling Commission, the popularity of UK gambling increased in 2016.

This new report found that 48% of surveyed participants had gambled in the past 4 weeks of 2016, which is an increase of 3% from the year earlier. This figure is certainly high, but drops down to 33% when those participating in the National Lottery were excluded.

The method of gambling remained the same from 2015. 17% of gamblers did so either online or through a mobile device, and 97% of gamblers did so at home. UK mobile gambling increased by 10% in 2016, and is now the method that 43% of gamblers use.

Further UK gambling news has come out that 68% of gamblers aged 18-24 claim that they felt the urge to gamble from both adverts and posts on social media. 0.7% of all UK gamblers claim to be problem gamblers, an increase from 0.5% in 2015.

James Green commented on this new report, and the valuable insight it gives by stating “This report paints an important picture of how consumers in Britain choose to gamble – identifying emerging trends and potential risks to the public.”
