Venice Film Festival is probably the largest film festival worldwide. It is a member of a so-called “Big Five” of international film festivals, which also includes Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, and Sundance. As the oldest event of its kind, VFF usually gains more attention from the public. This year is no exception: Venice is already on everyone’s lips because of the stars in the juries with Julianne Moore as the President and some big names on the competition list.  The 79th Venice Film Festival will start on August 31 and end on September 10, 2022. At the beginning of fall, the winner of the VFF will also be announced. So, it's the right time to take a look at its most interesting participants and favorites.

Top-3 Films to Win the Golden Lion in 2022

The final Venice Film Festival 2022 winner predictions are pretty similar on various bookmaker sites. Bardo by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, The Son by Florian Zeller, and TAR by Todd Field share the odds to win the Golden Lion at 22Bet. Other betting sites may offer different odds, but all of them are united in their opinion about three favorites of VFF. Let’s take a closer look at them. Bardo (or False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths) is a new movie by famous Mexican director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. There is little information available about Iñárritu’s Bardo except for its genre as epic comedy. It is also known that the movie was directed, produced, and co-written by a four-time Oscar winner himself. Bardo will premiere on Netflix shortly after the Venice Film Festival and has a pretty good chance to do it as the VFF winner.  Florian Zeller’s The Son is another popular choice among VFF followers. This will be a drama film about a complicated relationship between a young man and his divorced parents. The Son has a truly excellent cast with Hugh Jackman, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Dern, and Vanessa Kirby. In addition, Hans Zimmer wrote the music for the movie, which is another ace up Zeller’s sleeve.  Finally, TAR by Todd Field can become the next Venice Film Festival 2022 winner. Following gambling sites in Italy, the movie has one of the best odds of winning the Golden Lion. This will be a musical drama film starring Cate Blanchett in the role of classical music conductor Lydia Tar. The film also features Mark Strong and Nina Hoss in supportive roles.
