The World Cup Group B Betting Predictions Might Hold Some Surprises

Group B was finalized on 5 June 2022. Wales took the 4th and last spot, joining the already qualified England, Iran, and the USA. Iran starts as the clear-cut underdogs in their group, with the worst odds also. They already qualified in January after a near-flawless campaign but online sportsbooks in the UK do not think that’s enough. England qualified after an unbeaten run in their UEFA Group.

They also have one of the best football teams in the world. The US finished 3rd in the CONCACAF and avoided Costa Rica’s prolonged qualification fate. Wales’ win over Ukraine made history as the small nation will make their 2nd World Cup appearance this year. It’s also their first one in over 60 years. Now that World Cup Group B is complete, let’s see the betting predictions.

England Atop The World Cup Group B Rankings

The 2022 tournament will be England’s 16th one and their 7th consecutive qualification. Despite always boasting some of the best players in the world England only managed to win the World Cup once, in 1966. England is always included among the top favorites to win the World Cup but their past performances at the tournament have left many of their supporters disappointed.

Current World Cup Group B betting predictions pick England as the favourites to win their group, with odds of 1/3. Furthermore, they’re the 3rd favourites to win the whole tournament on 888sport, but you might see them move between the 1st and 5th spots as well.

In the most recent FIFA rankings, England was put as the 5th best team in the world. Featuring one of the most valuable squads in the world, the English national football team also has some of the best young talents in the world. Foden, Trent, Mount, Rice, Bellingham, Saka, James, and Tomori, are only a few names among the talented English squad. With Kane returning as captain, and Southgate as the manager let’s hope the boys can move past their past mistakes and perform well in Qatar.

History And Betting Predictions Aren’t On Iran’s Side

Iran was ranked as the strongest Asian football team earlies this year and they’ve backed this up by some great performances. They’re currently ranked 21st in the world which also makes them the highest-ranked Asian nation. However, Japan and South Korea are slowly but steadily climbing those rankings.

This year will be Iran’s 6th appearance at the World Cup, the first one being in 1978. That was also the year with their best result, finishing 14th overall. They played a total of 15 matches in five World Cups but only managed to win two. Their odds aren’t looking good either, 11/1 to win Group B. Furthermore, most online sportsbooks in the UK also predict that Iran will not make it past the group stages.

USA – How Far Can They Go This Year?

The Americans will make their 11th World Cup appearance later this year. They qualified for every tournament between 1990 and 2014 but had a meagre 18th average finishing position. Their best result was finishing third in 1930 but that’s a bit irrelevant nowadays. The US doesn’t have a winning record in the World Cup, but football isn’t the most popular sport in the country either.

Their odds of winning Group B aren’t that bad with 9/2 but England and Wales might cause some trouble for them. FIFA ranked the US as the 15th best in the world, a few spots behind arch-rivals Mexico and way ahead of Canada, who had better qualifying results as well. Wales Makes History – World Cup Group B Betting Predictions

After going through the long and difficult World Cup qualification process, Wales finally took the last spot in Group B. After beating Ukraine 1-0 on 5 June, only two out of the 32 spots remain. History backs the Welsh as their qualification was truly a special moment. Before 2022, they only qualified once, in 1958 when they reached the quarter-finals. So despite entering every tournament since 1950, they only qualified twice.

Gareth Bale and co. have their work cut out for them as they’re in a fairly strong group this year. On 888Sport, their odds of winning Group B are 9/2, which puts the Welsh national football team in a better spot than the US and Iran. Wales recently moved up FIFA’s rankings, and now has the 18th spot in the world.
