Casinos in Croatia
Gambling is legal in Croatia, and casinos are easy to come by. There are about 20 casinos and 30 large slot parlors in the country. Many Croatian casinos cater to tourists, and are located in Western-style hotels either in Zagreb, or in the country's seaside resort areas, where tourism has been steadily increasing during the last few years. Gambling tourism is a large market in Croatia, and these large casinos take advantage of the demand.
Croatian casinos are typically very similar to Vegas casinos, but on a much smaller scale. They run regular sit-in tournaments, and often offer a bar, restaurant, and live entertainment, especially on weekends. Casino attendance has greatly increased during the last few years, especially since EasyJet and RyanAir have introduced routes to Croatia.
Online Casinos in Croatia
Online casinos, on the other hand, are not booming in Croatia. The state lottery company Hrvatska Lutrija has teamed up with Intralot and Microgaming to offer online casino games, but the project has not been completed as of 2013.
In principle, private operators may also offer online casino gambling as long as they have a brick-and-mortar casino in Croatia. Even though most other large casinos in Croatia have websites, none currently offer online casino games.
