  • Everton will host their local rivals, Liverpool this Saturday, on the 3rd of September
  • They haven’t won against the Reds at home since 2010
  • Both teams had a poor season start, the Toffees are only 18th, and the Reds are 9th

Everton will host their local rival, Liverpool this Saturday, on the 3rd of September at Goodison Park. The Toffees haven’t been able to beat the Reds at home since 2010. And the Everton vs Liverpool betting tips do not favor them to do it now.  But Jurgen Klopp’s side hasn’t had the best start of the season either in spite of their knock-out win against Bournemouth last weekend.

The Merseyside derby is the longest-running rivalry in the top league of English football which has been going on continuously since the 1962-63 season. The first meeting of the two clubs was held in 1894 so the derby goes back a long history. Liverpool leads the overall result with 97 wins against Everton’s 67 victories. In most recent years the Reds managed to win at Goodison Park too, or at least draw against the Toffees.

Fans could cheer for a home win in the 2010/11 season the last time when Everton won 2-0 against Liverpool. This weekend Frank Lampard’s team will try to get their first win in the season and move up on the table. While Liverpool wants to keep on going following their massive win at the weekends.

Everton vs Liverpool Betting Tips Favor the Reds to Win Again

It wasn’t the best season start of the 2021/22 runners-up after Liverpool draw against Fulham and Crystal Palace. Then they lost the match against Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford. The team was only in 16th place in the table before their last game against Bournemouth. On Sunday Jurgen Klopp’s side gave everything though and trashed the Cherries with a 9-0 win. Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz scored twice but five more players also found the net. Next Liverpool host Newcastle United on Wednesday before visiting their local rival’s stadium.

Online sportsbooks in the UK favor them to win against Everton as well. They offer the odds of 1.36 for the guest’s victory. In their last meetings at Goodison Park Liverpool won 4-1 with the goals of Jordan Henderson, Diogo Jota, and a brace from Mohammed Salah. The Egyptian forward has the smallest odds, 2.05 to score any time in the game according to the Everton vs Liverpool betting tips. Followed by his teammates, Diaz and Firmino whose odds for the same are 2.50. Based on recent seasons, the Reds should score a few goals. So having over 2.5 goals in the match is also very likely and has the odds of 1.53.

The Toffees Need the Points

Everton started the new season even worse than their rivals after the team stands in the relegation zone following four games. They lost against Chelsea and Aston Villa and only drew with Nottingham Forest and Brentford. Getting only two points from the possible 12 is a very poor performance. The team’s defense is making lots of mistakes, while players in front have been struggling as well. Several players are also injured making head coach Frank Lampard’s situation even more difficult.

Probably the team’s biggest miss is Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has been out since the start of the season. But Andros Townsend, Andres Gomes, and Yerri Mina are also injured.

In their absence Alexander Iwobi can be a key player. While young English talent, Anthony Gordon can be a threat to Liverpool’s goal. The 21-year-old player is the target of other clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United. He can impress them on Saturday if he will be still at Everton. With online gambling sites in the UK offering the odds of 6.00 for his any time goal against Liverpool.

A new signing at the club, French Neal Maupay has even smaller odds (4.75) to find the net. It will be a very tough task though to get a point against the Reds. Everton’s small chances are represented in their odds which are 5.00 for a draw and 8.00 for a home win. Still, a great atmosphere and playing in front of the fans can motivate Everton for a better performance.
