Gambling in Kazakhstan
Historically, gambling is a very popular past-time in Kazakhstan, and perhaps in a move to confront this, the government changed the gambling laws in 2007 to relocate casinos to two gambling locations close to the capital Astana and the commercial capital Almaty.
However, that did not stop the spread of gambling within the country, with payment terminals being redesigned to accept bets from 500 tenge ($3.30). There are estimated to be countless thousands of these spread around the country in high-traffic locations. On top of this, betting shops are also popular, with questions over whether many companies are accepting bets from individuals under the state betting age of 21.
Online gambling in Kazakhstan
Information on Kazakhstan’s gambling legislation is difficult to come across, with a lot of misinformation around. Despite this, there appear to be two licensed online gambling sites: the online sportsbook Olympus, and the online casino Altyn Alma.
The government does not restrict play at foreign casinos either, and gamblers can enjoy the extensive offers available at European casinos, many of which cater to the Russian language.
