Casinos in Russia
Casinos in Russia are spread only in the four authorized areas where gambling is considered to be legal, as of April 2017. On all other places across the country casinos are illegal. In comparison with this situation it can be stated that in 2002, there were 58 casinos in Moscow alone, but as the industry was unregulated, there were a myriad of problems to be found. As such, the government took very strict action against gambling after 2006, resulting in a major change of tact in 2009. Casinos were banned across the country, except in four gambling zones at Kaliningrad Oblast, Krasnodar Krai, Altai Krai, and Primorsky Krai.
