The Spanish giants and current UEFA Champions League winners have beaten other clubs to acquire the signature of the 28-year old.

Arda Turan has signed for FC Barcelona for a fee in the region of EUR 34m with an extra EUR 7m in add-ons. In addition, internet casinos report that there is an alternative clause in the contract, which involves selling the player back to Atletico Madrid if the club’s new president does not accept the deal. Elections are set to take place for a new club president on July 18.

Furthermore, if the new boss does not agree to the deal, the reigning La Liga champions would automatically lose 10% of the fee they have already paid to Atletico Madrid. Ramon Adell, president of Barcelona’s managing committee, mentioned, “the decision could not be put off any longer”. He also added that “the signing is good news and the operation protects the interest of the club.”

Turan has to wait until ban is lifted to play at FC Barcelona

Due to the transfer ban placed on the current La Liga and Copa del Rey winners for breaking transfer regulations, Turan will have to wait until January next year before he can play for the club. Reports from gambling news stated that the signing of the attacking midfielder comes as a result of the Spanish club losing their veteran midfielder and club legend Xavi Hernandez.

Turan has a lot of experience in the Spanish league and his move to Barcelona would only make him a better player. Turan won the Europa League in 2012, a year after joining from Galatasaray. He further won the Spanish Copa Del Rey and the Spanish La Liga in 2013 and 2014 respectively. His presence in the midfield also helped his former team finish third place in the La Liga table.
