Our goal was to collect the football players who are being followed by the most people on Facebook, due to their massive popularity around the globe.

The best football players are usually those who do the most spectacular tricks, give the most assists and score the most goals. They are usually the greatest stars of their teams and the favourite players of millions of supporters.

Being a player like this must be hard to bear as they have to tolerate that every step of theirs is being followed by the paparazzi. However, it can also be pleasant seeing messages showing support and love from millions of football enthusiasts from all around the world. We collected those football players who are the most popular on social media sites.

7. Mesut Özil

Arsenal’s playmaker has 28,289,000 followers on Facebook. He started gaining great reputation during the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, when he was the key player in Germany’s attractive football style. After the tournament, Real Madrid captured him almost immediately.

Spanish gambling news report that Özil spent 3 years in the Spanish capital and was one of the most important players among José Mourinho’s men. Having been followed by so many football enthusiasts is not a surprise in case of Lionel Messi as he is already believed to be one of the best football players in the history of the sport.

He won the treble twice with his club where he was raised ever since his childhood. He is the most important member in both Argentina’s and Barcelona’s squad as not only he scores incredible amounts of goals, but he also creates many chances for his teammates. He is the greatest – and probably the only – real competitor of Lionel Messi.

He won the Golden Ball 3 times, the Champions League twice, was top scorer in both Premier League and Liga BBVA, and keeps breaking all possible records… He has been at Real Madrid since 2009, and even under this short time, he grew to be the second best scorer in the club’s outstanding history. He will most probably take over the first place from Raúl in the coming season.
