Billabong Pipe Masters, to be held between December 8-20, is the most charged event on the WSL Championship Tour. It will not only decide the winner, but also the World Champion and Vans Triple Crown Champion. As per our 2019 Billabong Pipe Masters betting predictions, Italo Ferreira will likely lead the race. But four others might have a chance to stop him. Once again the final stop on the WSL Championship Tour, Pipe Masters will crown the world’s best elite surfers. With its deadly heats, Pipe looks like the surfing Coliseum, where surfers are gladiators, waves are beasts and surfboards are swords. It will mark the end of the 2019 season at Banzai Pipeline in Hawaii. The prize pool of $525,000 is not the only thing on the line but also the Vans Triple Crown and WSL title. As per our 2019 Billabong pipe masters betting predictions, the Brazilian rising star Italo Ferreira is the favorite to win it all. Yet online sportsbook news in the US reported that he is closely followed by four strong opponents. On top is Gabriel Medina who looks to secure a third title. Besides, Jordy Smith, Filipe Toledo, and Kolohe Andino are all on the hunt for their very first.

Ferreira leads 2019 rankings

The new World No. 01 Italo Ferreira looks like a genuine chance this year, especially after his win at MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal. His odds value +900 at 22BETSportsbook to win Pipeline Masters. Simply because he climbed up from zero wins in 2017 to the top ranks in 2019. However, his title race is tough and will certainly go down to the wire. Should he win the Pipe he will claim his maiden World Title. Should he finish runner-up, and Medina or Toledo take the 1st they will claim the world title.

Medina has a solid history at Pipe

Brazil’s national hero Gabriel Medina is about to defend his 2018 Pipe title and looks ahead to secure a third title this year. Statistically speaking Medina has a very solid history at the Pipe. His average place at Pipe is 6.25, which is the highest among this year’s top contenders. Therefore, most online sportsbooks in the US are keeping him as the favorite with +450 odds to retain the title. However, you should keep in mind that Medina had a rocky season. Thus, it remains to be seen whether he will bounce back from his setbacks in Europe.

Smith is becoming more consistent

South Africa’s Jordy Smith is a very experienced surfer with the competition at Pipe Masters. He participated in nine times, but his average place is at 11.89. Not high enough to secure him a title!! However, last year he improved a lot, reaching the semi-final, only to lose against the champion Medina. This season he was quite consistent finishing third in three events, and second in the other two. Did Smith’s time come for good? It is hard to predict, but his odds are at +1300.

Toledo might have a serious big wave weakness

Filipe Toledo is not only competing for the WSL title at the Pipe Masters, but he is also challenging for a spot at the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Two seats are available for Brazil, and obviously, there are three candidates, Ferreira, Medina, and Toledo. Unless Toledo manages to finish above his Brazilian contenders at Pipe he will miss the next year’s Olympics.

Toledo’s average place at the previous six Pipe Masters is pretty low standing at 15. Although he had some impressive performances this year, he also had some poor ones like in Tahiti. Some even claim Toledo has a serious big wave weakness. Thus, despite his +2200 odds to be the outright winner, our 2019 Billabong Pipe Masters betting predictions opt for Toldeo to suffer in Hawaii.

Andino’s hopes to win WSL title are the lowest

The 25-year-old Californian Kolohe Andino was the first US surfer to secure an Olympic spot. He will probably compete with no extra pressure like Toldeo in Hawaii. But, his hopes to win the WSL title are much lower than the other top contenders. Also, his average place at Pipe is the lowest among the aforementioned four contenders with a value of 17.75 in eight Pipe events. Will he manage to win in Hawaii? If that happens it will be a shocking upset with +3500 odds. If you are looking for the best odds on surfing, look no further and check out our review about 22BET Sportsbook.
