  • Teams play in the second leg of the quarter-finals in 2020 Copa Libertadores
  • Two games finished with a 1-1 draw in the 1st leg
  • River Plate and Palmeiras are both favored to win their ties
Eight teams have remained in this year’s Copa Libertadores cup who will continue with the 2nd leg of the quarter-finals this week. Last year’s champions Flamengo are already out but other top favorites, like River Plate or Boca Juniors are still in the competition. In the 2020 Copa Libertadores betting preview we checked the favorites to get to the last four this year. In the South American version of the Champions League top teams from Brazil, Argentina and other countries compete for the trophy. Argentine club Independiente has won the cup the most, seven times ahead of Boca Juniors and Uruguay club Penarol. But of course Brazilian clubs are generally doing great as well in the tournament like last year when Flamengo became the champion. But they were eliminated by Racing in the last 16 so we will see a new winner this season. The remaining teams are playing the second legs of their ties in the quarter-finals, except in the fourth pair. There the two Argentine teams, Racing and Boca Juniors will only meet for their first leg this Wednesday night.

2020 Copa Libertadores betting preview for quarter-finals

Online sportsbooks in Brazil predict an easy win for Brazilian side Palmeiras in their game against Paraguay club Libertad. Their first game finished with a 1-1 draw, but at home Palmeiras is a huge favorite and has the odds of 1.32 to win the game. The team knocked out the Columbian side of Delfin in the last 16 confidently with 8-1 on aggregate. But their opponents will also fight for a place in the semi-finals, where they haven’t played so far. Libertad have been doing better away than home but only have the odds of 10.00 for the victory now in the 2020 Copa Libertadores betting preview.

The other two Brazilian teams, Gremio and Santos face each other in another quarter-final. They also played a 1-1 draw in the first game, so really any result can happen in the second leg. Online gambling sites in Brazil slightly favor the guests, Gremio to win the game with the odds of 2.51. Both teams have won the cup three times before with Gremio’s last victory coming in 2017. Surely Santos will go for the victory at home to appear again in the last four teams.

Argentine top teams favored to get through

One of the most famous Argentine football clubs, River Plate was close to winning the 2019 Copa Libertadores. But lost the final 2-1 against Flamengo. Now they are favored to win away as well with the odds of 2.59. on 22Bet.  Under the lead of their legendary manager, Marcelo Gallardo and team captain Leonardo Ponzio the team can go all the way this season.

While one of their biggest rivals, Boca Juniors will face another Argentine side, Racing this Wednesday. The Argentine champion reached the quarter-finals after a very exciting tie against International, winning only on penalties. Carlos Tevez is still playing brilliantly and is a big asset for the team. But Racing won’t be an easy opponent. As they knocked out the defending cup winners, Flamengo in the previous round.
