The Ferrero Challenger Open was organized first in 2018. It was the first Challenger tournament in the area since 1996. The event is played on clay courts and at the city of Villena, on the east coast of Spain. It is named after the former world No1 Juan Carlos Ferrero who was born in the area. Now the younger generation continues his legacy like Carlos Alcaraz who won the title last year. While his compatriot, Pablo Andujar got the win in the first two editions of the tournament. None of them will compete this year, offering great opportunities for other Spanish players.

2021 Alicante Challenger Odds Expect Another Spanish Victory

Online sportsbooks in Spain favor the top seed of the tournament, Feliciano Lopez to get the win. The 40-year-old player is only 108th in the world ranking now. But he reached the 12th spot a few years ago. He has 7 ATP Tour titles so far while he also reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon and the US Open before. This season Lopez set two records with appearing in his 77th consecutive Grand Slam. And also having the most appearances in the Masters category after playing on his 139th event in Indian Wells. Now he will start against Italian Roberto Marcora with the odds of 1.36 to win the game.

Another Spanish player is also in the favorites according to the 2021 Alicante Challenger odds. The former world No7 and Australian Open semi-finalist, Fernando Verdasco. Even though he has been struggling lately due to an injury and fell out of the top 100 in the rankings. He reached the quarter-final of this year’s Rafa Nadal Open in Mallorca this August but might get an even better result now in Alicante. Verdasco is already in the second round after defeating another Spanish, Nicola Kuhn in the first round.

Other Favorites Who Can Win The Tournament

The fourth seed of the tournament, Quentin Halys can also aim for the first victory of his season. The French player was close to winning a couple of times this year. After reaching the final in Italy and Portugal and the semi-finals three more times. Besides winning the title at the Biella Challenger in doubles. Now Halys has another chance to get his fourth Challenger Tour title after 2018. He will start against Portuguese Frederico Ferreira Silva with the odds of 1.36 to win the match.

Online gambling sites in Spain also expect a victory from Dmitry Popko who will face his countryman, Denis Yevseyev in the first round. Popko has just won his first Challenger Tour title in Lisbon two weeks ago which might boost him for other great results. The 24-year old Russian-born player can meet Uzbek Denis Istomin in the next round. Istomin surprisingly defeated French Kyrian Jacquet in the first round. He will be the underdog in the next game again so don’t forget to check the latest odds on bet365.
