  • 2021 Vuelta has started last Saturday and will finish on the 5th of September
  • Beside the general classification riders can also fight for the green jersey
  • Demare, Philipsen and Jakobsen are the biggest favorites but Roglic can also win it

2021 Vuelta an Espana started last weekend, on the 14th of August, and will finish on the 5th of September in Santiago de Compostela. Primoz Roglic is the main favorite to win the overall title again, while some of the best sprinters will fight to win the points classification. The 2021 Vuelta Green Jersey winner odds mention French rider, Arnaud Demare, as the biggest favorite but even Roglic can win this jersey too.

The points classification in other Grand Tours is usually won by the best sprinters. But in the Vuelta often the winners of the general classification get the green jersey as well. As it happened in the last few years, when the red jersey winner Primoz Roglic, Alejandro Valverde, and Chris Froome also won the points classification. This year the Slovenian champion is also mentioned in the top favorites along with some of the best sprinters. Like QuickStep rider Fabio Jakobsen or the winner of the second stage, Jasper Philipsen. Or the FDJ cyclist, Arnaud Demare who has won the points classification in other smaller events so far.

2021 Vuelta Green Jersey Winner Odds Mention Top Sprinters as Favorites

Arnaud Demare is competing in his first Vuelta but he is already mentioned as the top favorite by online sportsbooks in Spain. The FDJ rider has had a good season so far after he won the points classification in Mayenne and Valencia. But unfortunately, he crashed in the 2021 Tour de France and had to give up the race. Now Demare can try to get a great result in the last Grand Tour of the season with the odds of 2.50 to win the green jersey. The 29-year-old French cyclist has already won stages in the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia. On Sunday he finished 14th but he will have more opportunities on the remaining six flat stages.

Just like his main rivals, Jasper Philipsen and Fabio Jakobsen who finished as first and second yesterday. The Belgian won a stage last year as well in his first Vuelta, while this year he won the points classification in the Tour of Turkey. Following his brilliant victory in the second stage, Philipsen looks like a real contender for the green jersey. But the Dutch QuickStep rider, Jakobsen seemed to be in great form as well. This is a small miracle after he suffered a very serious accident last season. He returned to racing this April and has already won two stages in the Tour de Wallonie last month. Now both riders have the odds of 4.50 in the 2021 Vuelta Green Jersey winner odds. So, just click Bet365 Sportsbook and realize your betting

Roglic and Other GC Riders Can also Win This Jersey

Primoz Roglic has already won the Vuelta twice, in 2019 and 2020. The Slovenian is the top favorite to defend his title again as we mentioned here. But Roglic can also win the points classification as he did on the previous two occasions. This time though there will be more options for sprinters to win stages and collect points. But after winning the Olympic time trial gold as well, Roglic can easily win the green jersey again. His odds to do so are 6.50.

Another versatile rider is Michael Matthews who won the green jersey in the 2017 Tour de France. This year he was second in the Tour behind Mark Cavendish. The Australian also got stage victories in the 2014 Giro and the 2013-14 Vuelta. Now he can get a win in a hillier stage and possibly finish on top of the points classification. Online sportsbooks sites in Spain offer the odds of 9.00 for his victory. Meanwhile the UAE cyclist Matteo Trentin is also mentioned in the favorites with the odds of 7.50. The Italian has also won stages in all three Grand Tours, besides the Paris-Tours and European Road Race Championships. He is a fast finisher as well but might struggle in the tough terrains during the three-week race.
