Ducati rider Enea Bastianini won the first race in Qatar in one of the tightest races of recent years. The defending champion, Fabio Quartararo finished only in 9th place but he can get a better result next weekend. Just like Marc Marquez who is the top favorite in the 2022 MotoGP Indonesia winner odds.

MotoGP returns to Indonesia after 25 years as the last race was held in the county in 1997. Then the Sentul International Circuit hosted the tournament in Bogor, West Java. But now riders can race on the brand new Mandalika Circuit on the island of Lombok. All teams had a chance to get to know the place in the pre-season tests in February. It is a fast track so motors with great horsepower and speed can dominate the race. Like Honda, whose rider, Pol Espargaro had the fastest time in tests. But the defending champion, Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo was fast as well. Unlike the winner of the first race, Enea Bastianini, who got the first victory of his team,  Gresini Racing.

Marquez and Bagnaia lead in the 2022 MotoGP Indonesia Winner Odds

Marc Marquez finished fifth in the first race of the season in Qatar after going wide on a few occasions. Letting other riders like Brad Binder and Aleix Espargaro overtake him. He was the 9th fastest in the Mandalika tests so needs to improve on his results. But the eight-time champion is certainly capable of doing so. His team, Honda seems to have the pace after his teammate, Pol Espargaro finished third in Qatar.  And also won the tests in Indonesia last month. Online sportsbooks in Spain still prefer Marquez for the win and offer the odds of 3.50 for his victory.

The other big title contender ahead of the season, Francesco Bagnaia had an even worse race last weekend. He only started from 9th place and dropped to 15th after his poor start. The Italian tried to move forward, during which he collided with his Ducati teammate, Jorge Martin, and knocked both of them out. He apologized to Martin and his team following the incident and will surely try to make up for it in the next race. The 2022 MotoGP Indonesia winner odds offer the odds of 5.00 for his victory. That makes sense as Bagnaia was quite fast in the tests here with the sixth-fastest time. But Ducati might need some improvements for better results next weekend.

Bastianini is Already in Favorites

Enea Bastianini managed to get his first MotoGP win in his second season of the top-level series. The 24-year-old Italian races for Gresini Racing where his victory was celebrated with lots of emotion following last year’s death of the team founder, Fausto Gresini. It was the team’s first victory since it was founded 16 years ago. Interestingly, Gresini Racing also uses Ducati motors, just some previous versions. The 2020 Moto2 champion was only 13th in tests in Mandalika. But following his great performance in Qatar, he became a favorite to win in there too. With online gambling sites in Spain offering the odds of 7.00 for Bastianini’s second win.

The defending champion, Fabio Quartararo finished only in 9th place in the first race of the season. He was still the best Yamaha rider after the other cyclists’ worse results. But we should expect a much better performance from him in Indonesia. Quartararo was fast in the tests, finishing with the second-fastest time last month. That could be a promising sign ahead of the race,  where the fastest rider of the pre-season, Pol Espargaro can also do well. The Spanish finished third in Qatar with impressive racing. He was leading it with four laps to go when Bastianini and KTM rider Brad Binder overtook him. The 30-year-old Honda racer is still looking for the first MotoGP victory of his career and has the odds of 10.00 on 22Bet to get it now.
