  • The last race of the 2022 MotoGP season is held this weekend in Valencia
  • It will decide the winner of the championship
  • At the moment Francesco Bagnaia leads 23 points ahead of Fabio Quartararo
The last race of the 2022 MotoGP season is held this weekend, between 4-6 November at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. Francesco Bagnaia took over the lead in the championship with his win in Malaysia. Fabio Quartararo can only catch him with a victory but even that can’t be enough to defend his title. The 2022 MotoGP Valencia preview mentions the leaders as top favorites along with Marc Marquez who has already won at this track three times before.

It has been a thrilling season in the top motorsport category thanks to the brilliant resurrection of the Ducati. One of its riders, Francesco Bagnaia leads the championship 23 points ahead of the defending champion, Fabio Quartararo. The French Yamaha rider was leading the overall standings most of the season but the last few rounds didn’t go as planned. Now he would need a win and Bagnaia to finish outside of the top 14 in order to defend his title. It is not impossible, but his chances of winning are not too high. Especially as Ducati have been very strong on this track in the past. And Bagnaia won the race here last season.

The 2022 MotoGP Valencia Preview Mentions Marquez Among the Favorites

Before checking the odds of the top two riders of the season, let’s start with the most successful rider in the current field, Marc Marquez. The six-time MotoGP champion has won here three times so far. Twice in the top category and once in Moto2. The Spanish champion has been struggling with injuries all season. But he was close to winning in Australia last month. Now online sportsbooks in Spain offer the smallest odds, 4.00 for his victory. He only finished 7th in the last race in Sepang but Honda can be faster at this track. While Marquez will also enjoy the support of the Spanish fans.  Just like Jorge Martin who is mentioned with the same winning odds in the 2022 MotoGP Valencia preview. The Pramac Racing rider finished three times on the podium this season but hasn’t gotten any wins yet. He finished second here last year, so he likes this track. His Ducati motor is also fast in Valencia, making him a top contender for the race victory. Along with another Ducati rider, Enea Bastianini who is currently in fourth place in the championship. He is only a point behind Aleix Espargaro. So finishing ahead of the Aprilia rider can be his main aim on Sunday. Winning his fifth race of the season would definitely help Bastianini to catch the Spanish in the overall standings. His odds to do so are 6.00 on 22Bet.

Bagnaia or Quartararo will Win the Title?

The biggest question of the weekend is about the championship title: Can Bagnaia keep his lead and win his first MotoGP title? Or will the defending champion, Fabio Quartararo produce an amazing comeback and defend his title? Well, the chance of the second scenario is not very high after Bagnaia has a 23-point lead ahead of Quartararo. The French would need to win the race and Pecco to finish P15 or lower to win his second title. But based on his and the Ducati rider’s recent form, it would be a small miracle. The Yamaha rider can still win the race though. With online gambling sites in Spain offering the odds of 5.50 for his fourth win of the season.  Bagnaia only needs to finish in the top 14 to keep his lead. The Italian racer did that on 13 occasions this year, winning 7 times as well. But he also crashed out five times in the season which can give some hope to Quartararo’s fans. Just like some of Bagnaia’s previous results at the track eg. his crash in 2020. But last season the Italian rider won the race here with an impressive performance. While Quartararo only started from P8 and finished in fifth place eventually. Pecco’s odds to finish on top again are 7.00. Meanwhile his teammate, Jack Miller will fight for his second race win in 2022. Victory here could help him to finish on the championship podium, but it would be still a huge task. As he is 23 points behind the current third-place rider, Aleix Espargaro. Miller’s odds to win now are 12.00.
