  • 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic is held this weekend, 28-31 July in Detroit
  • It is the penultimate event ahead of the FedEx Cup playoff
  • Cameron Davis won here last year but Cantlay, Finau, Zalatoris are the top favorites now
2021/2022 PGA Tour continues this weekend, between 28-31 July in Detroit with the Rocket Mortgage Classic. In the penultimate event before the FedEx Cup playoff, players will have one of the last chances to earn points to qualify. Cameron Davis won the tournament here last year and is among the favorites again. But the 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic odds mention a few other players ahead of him like Patrick Cantlay, the winner of the 2021 FedEx Cup.  The Rocket Mortgage Classic is a new tournament in the PGA Tour as the first edition was held only three years ago, in 2019. It replaced the Washington-held Quicken Loans National tournament. And it became the first PGA Tour event in Detroit. Nate Lashley and Bryson DeChambeau won the first two editions. While Australian Cameron Davis is the defending champion. He will compete again along with the world No4 Patrick Cantlay and other top 20 players. Like Will Zalatoris and Tony Finau. The tournament is in the last two events before the FedEx Cup playoff. So lower-ranked players will also fight for points to earn their place in the postseason.

Cantlay leads the 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic odds

Patrick Cantlay has only one win this season. His victory in the team event at the Zurich Classic where he was playing along with Xander Schauffele. But he also finished as a runner-up at the RBC Heritage and the WM Phoenix Open. The 30-year-old American got six more top 10 finishes, including a T8 at The Open Championship. Online sportsbooks in the US are favoring Camtlay for the win now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyTbeFa3eqc&t=6s They offer the smallest odds, +1000.00 for his victory. Even though he will make his tournament debut this year. Unlike Will Zalatoris who competed here last year but finished only in 77th place.  Now the world No13 can do much better based on his recent results. As the young American finished T2 in the 2022 US Open and second in the PGA Championship. He also got seven additional top 10 finishes in the season. The winner of the 2021 Rookie of the Year award is still chasing his first PGA Tour win. He has the odds of +1400.00 to get it now. The 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic odds offer the same chances for the victory of another top 20 player, Tony Finau. He will arrive in top form after winning the previous tournament, the 3M Open in Minneapolis last week. The world No16 also finished as a runner-up in Mexico and in Canada and can do well again.

Other Favorites Include the Defending Champion

Cameron Young is also a top 20 player who has struggled at the beginning of the year. He missed the cut both at The Players Championship and at the Masters. But since then he has found his form. He finished third at the PGA Championship. While he was second at The Open Championship at St Andrews. Just like Zalatoris, Young is also aiming for his first PGA Tour win with the odds of +1600.00 to get it now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibyf1LR6Ob4 Like another Cameron, Cameron Davis who got his first win here last season. The Australian hasn’t got any more wins since. But he finished T3 at the RBC Heritage this April. Online gambling sites in the US offer the odds of +3000.00 for his win.  We can find smaller odds next to Max Homa, who is currently in 20th place in the world rankings. He won the Wells Fargo Championship this year which was his fourth PGA Tour win. Homa hasn’t had the best few weeks recently as he didn’t make the cut at the Open. And finished only T47 at the US Open. But he has the experience and a T25 finish from last year’s event. His odds to finish on top are +2200.00 on BetOnline. Denny McCarthy has been in much better form in the last few weeks. After getting three top-7 finishes out of his last four tournaments. Including a T6 finish at the US Open. The 29-year-old American is also chasing his first win and has the odds of +5000.00 to get it this weekend.
