It will be the first time that the Mexican city of Guadalajara hosts a WTA 1000 tournament but it’s not new to major events. After it organized last year’s WTA Finals with great success. Now some of the best women's tennis players will compete in the Guadalajara Open Akron. Including six top-10 players and other top-form players like Barbora Krajcikova. Most of them are still fighting for a place in the WTA Finals, making the event more exciting for all tennis fans. The tournament is held on outdoor hard courts, with 56 players taking part in the singles draw. The first eight seeds will only join in the second round. Let’s see who can go all the way to the final.

2022 WTA Guadalajara Open Preview: Sabalenka and Gauff Are Head-to-head as Top Favorites

The second seed of the tournament, Aryna Sabalenka is currently in fourth place in the world rankings. The Belarussian player didn’t start well the season and struggled in both the Australian and French Opens. She did reach the final in Stuttgart and the semi-final in Rome though. Sabalenka missed Wimbledon due to the tournament’s ban but played well in the hard-court season. She reached the semi-final in Cincinnati. And also in the US Open which was her third Grand Slam semi-final. Now online sportsbooks in Mexico offer the smallest odds, 10.00 for her victory.  The same odds are offered for the victory of the 18-year-old US player Cori Gauff. The world No7 American reached her first Grand Slam final in the 2022 French Open. And she also got to the quarter-final of the US Open. Gauff has won titles in doubles too, playing along with her compatriot, Jessica Pegula.  The 28-year-old player is also mentioned among the favorites in the 2022 WTA Guadalajara Open preview. She reached the quarter-final in the Australian, the French, and the US Open, proving her great form this season. And secured her place in the Finals with her semi-final result in San Diego last week. Pegula’s odds to win her second WTA Tour title in Mexico are 13.00.  2022 WTA Guadalajara Open preview

Chances of top-form Krejcikova, and other top-10 players

Barbora Krejcikova won in Tallinn and in Ostrava in the last few weeks, defeating the world No1 Iga Swiatek in the latter. The 26-year-old Czech player is currently in 17th place in the world rankings, still fighting for a place in the finals. Based on her recent form, the 2021 French Open champion can do well again. Her odds to get her sixth WTA Tour title now are 11.00. Online gambling sites in Mexico offer similar odds for the victory of another player in great form, Liudmila Samsonova. The young Russian player won in Tokyo two weeks ago and got her third title of the season. After winning in other hard-court events in Washington and in Cleveland.  French Caroline Garcia returned to the top 10 this season after reaching the semi-final in the 2022 US Open. The 29-year-old player also won her third WTA 1000 title in Cincinnati. While she also won two WTA 250 events in Warsaw and Bad Homburg. Garcia is the sixth seed in this tournament with an odds of 15.00 to lift the trophy. Other top 10 players, Paula Badosa and Maria Sakkari have smaller chances of winning according to bookmakers.  Even though Badosa is the top seed in the event, her odds to win are only 19.00 on 22Bet. Probably due to her weaker recent performance after a strong start to the season. Similar things can be true for the world No6 Maria Sakkari. The Greek player reached the final in Indian Wells but lost there against Iga Swiatek. Her most recent good result has been another final in Parma, but she would need a better performance this week in order to qualify for the Finals.
