  • 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage started this week
  • Real Madrid are the defending champions and among the favorites again
  • Just like previous runners-up, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain
The group stage of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League started yesterday, so it’s time to review the possible future winners. Real Madrid is the defending champion and the most successful club in the league’s history. And the Spanish club is mentioned among the top favorites again in the 2023 UCL betting predictions. But Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have an even bigger chance of winning this season according to the bookmakers.

This is the 68th season of the top European football club tournament, the Champions League in which the best European teams are fighting for the trophy. Including the record-winner Real Madrid who won their 14th title last season. Last year’s runners-up, Liverpool, 6-time winner Bayern Munich and the Italian champions, AC Milan. But the biggest favorites just like in the previous years, are the richest clubs who have been dominating their national leagues, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. Both teams started well the tournament and won confidently their first games. City knocked out Sevilla with a 4-0 victory in Spain, while PSG got a 2-1 victory against Juventus at home. So getting through to the knockout stage seems like an easy job for them, but what will happen there is another question.

2023 UCL Betting Predictions Favor City and PSG for Their First Title

Manchester City play in their 12th UCL season with the aim of finally winning it. They have been closest to the trophy in the 2020/21 season when they finished as a runner-up. After they lost in the final against Chelsea. Now with the signing of Erling Haaland, their dream might come true. The Norwegian striker is unstoppable so far. He has already scored 12 goals in 8 games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWIFxpS5RIM And leads the UCL all-time list of the most goals scored in 20 appearances with 23 goals. Just to emphasize Haaland’s performance, Ruud van Nistelrooy follows him in second place with 16 goals. While Ronaldo needed 61 games to score 23 goals. Playing along with other top players like Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, or Ilkay Gundogan, surely Haaland can lead the team to the final again.  Online sportsbooks in the UK certainly think so and offer the smallest odds, 3.25 for the victory of City. Pep Guardiola’s team is followed by Paris Saint-Germain who have been trying to win their first trophy as well. This season, PSG only signed one key player, Portuguese midfielder Vitinha who has already become a regular starter. While Christophe Galtier replaced Mauricio Pochettino as the team’s head coach. But the biggest achievement in the summer was of course the signing of a new deal with Kylian Mbappe. The French star stayed in spite of the huge interest from Real Madrid. With Neymar and Lionel Messi looking sharp again, it will be a difficult task to stop the French club. Their odds to go all along are 5.50 in the 2023 UCL betting predictions.

Liverpool, Bayern, and Real are Among the Top Favorites as Well

Liverpool finished as a runner-up last season after a 1-0 defeat from Real Madrid. Now they look like a strong contender again. Even though Jurgen Klopp’s team hasn’t had the best start to the new season. They draw with Fulham and Crystal Palace and lost against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Then the Reds knocked out Bournemouth with a 9-0 win and moved to seventh place in the table. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxh-7v4VlZk Surely they need to play more consistently in the Champions League, where they face Napoli tonight. Ajax and Rangers are also in the same group, but getting to the last 16 is compulsory for the team. The arrival of Darwin Nunez can mean more goals, even though Sadio Mane left the team.  The Senegalese forward joined Bayern Munich to replace Robert Lewandowski. Bayern won the Champions League in 2020 which was the club’s sixth title. Last season though they suffered a surprise defeat from Villareal in the last eight. Julian Nagelsmann’s team is undefeatable in the German league but might need more to win another UCL trophy. Online gambling sites in the UK offer the odds of 7.50 for the German success and 7.00 for Liverpool’s victory. A bit surprisingly the defending champions Real Madrid, are only mentioned in fifth place among the favorites. Carlo Ancelotti's team signed Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni to strengthen the defense but no striker after their failed attempt to get Mbappe. With Benzema, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo in the squad, Real still seem dangerous and have an odds of 10.00 on bet365 to win again.
