Barcelona and PSG aren’t expected to meet any resistance from Ajax and Apoel who will contest the third spot in the group.

Another Champions League Group with two clear-cut leaders and two underdogs is Group F. Besides the French champions PSG, and Spanish runners-up Barcelona, there are also Dutch league winners Ajax and Cypriot champions Apoel.

While PSG is slowly, but surely moving toward the European football fame and spotlight, it seems that Barcelona is deteriorating with each year since Pep Guardiola left them for Bayern. It will be interesting to see just the two teams will be playing against each other, and who will treat punters under Spanish gambling laws to a much better payout once the qualifying pair is known.

• Barcelona and PSG are widely expected to battle for the group supremacy

• Ajax and Apoel are by far the underdogs, but could still bite points from favorites
PSG have never won the Champions League, but have been pretty consistent throughout last seasons, reaching the quarters in the last two editions of the competition. The French were pretty active during the summer transfer window and now Zlatan Imrahimovic and co and suited better than ever to try and take the team further than they’ve ever went.

The current Ligue 1 champions are second in line to win the group, and the 3.25 odds from Bet365 might actually be a smart bet considering the strength of the French side and the instability of Barcelona’s performance. PSG have also been given a shorter line of 1.12 to qualify from the group from any of the two available spots.

Those who bet on sports in Spain are well aware that Barcelona have conceded last season’s Primera title to Atletico Madrid. In fact they were knocked out of Champions League by the same Madrid team in the quarters last season. Naturally, Barca are the four time holders, their last success came in 2010/2011 season, and now it’s definitely time to repeat it.

According to online sportsbooks in Spain, Barcelona are the number one favorites to win Group F and advance to the knockouts with 1.36 odds. Their line on qualifying is even shorter – 1.02 at Bet365, meaning it’s a pretty safe bet in case punters want a sure return on their money.

The Dutch champions Ajax are no stranger to Champions League, in fact they hold the same number of titles as Barcelona – 4. And although the last time they won was in 1994 it doesn’t mean they can’t put forward a brilliant performance and try and tackle the two favorites for a place in the knockout stages. They’ve failed to make it out of the groups during the past four seasons, so this year just might be the time for them.

Bet365 values their chances of qualifying with a line of 6.00, which could be a very rewarding bet, should any of the two favorites slip and give some much-needed points to Ajax. In an unlikely event Ajax manage to win Group F, the bookies will be paying their loyal punters at whopping 26.00 odds, but this bet is a bit too out there.

The underdogs of the group are of course Cyprios champions Apoel, who are not strangers to Champions League. The small team has made a stir back in 2011/2012 season when they’ve managed to reach the quarter-finals only to be beaten by Real Madrid. Naturally, there’s always a chance for them to repeat the success or even do better, so totally discarding them would be a big mistake.

Apoel is given slim chances of qualifying from the group by virtually every online bookie, thus Bet365 gives them a long line of 17.00 to make it to the knockouts. As for their prospects of winning Group F – well, they are practically nonexistent with massive 81.00 odds.

Betting on the first matches in Group F

Group F will open their matches on Wednesday, September 17th. Both Barcelona and PSG will immediately get a chance to score some easy three points, before they head to meet each other on matchday 2. Ajax are hosting PSG and naturally aren’t the favorites with 4.75 odds from Bet365, compared to a very short line of 1.70 for the French and 3.75 odds for the tie result.

1-1 draw and 1-0 in favor of PSG are the most anticipated results paying at 7.00 and 7.50 odds respectively. There’s no difference between 2-0 and 2-1 scorelines in favor of the French, each bringing 8.00 odds. But the 3-0 thrashing will already pay at 13.00 odds. Which is actually the same payout for an event when Ajax manage to beat PSG 1-0. Their 2-0 success will pay at massive 23.00 odds.

Barcelona will be playing their opener at home and are welcoming Apoel to Camp Nou. No surprise on who’s the favorite here, the Catalan are given a very short line of 1.06 from Bet365, while Apoel had to settle for long odds of 29.00 to produce a major surprise. The draw is also highly unlikely and will pay at 13.00.

Interestingly enough, Barca is expected to beat Apoel with a 3-0 scoreline, this event delivers 5.50 payout at Bet365. Next up is 4-0 with a line of 6.00, while 2-0 and 5-0 are equally possible with a 7.50 payout. In a very unlikely event the Cypriots manage to win 1-0, there’s a huge payout of 51.00 awaiting punters.
