Belgium or Russia to Grab Top Spot: World Cup Betting Group H

Last, but certainly not least, Group H provides football fans and punters with lots of exciting matches to expect and various ways to make money from betting on sports.

Group H is not the easiest one at the upcoming World Cup, but it can certainly be considered one of the simplest one to go through. That’s why Belgium are expected by many punters under Belgian gambling laws to cruise through to the last 16 from the group where they will be playing with Russia, South Korea, and Algeria.

Marc Wilmots’ men are expected to beat Russia and top the group, while Algeria receives the worst odds and no one will be surprised to see them at the bottom of Group H after three matches. Nonetheless, the betting offers at land-based and online sportsbooks in Belgium are covering every possible outcome, and in some case deliver huge payouts.

World Cup betting Group H

While the group looks pretty much evenly-matched, Belgium is betting on young talent, which can either help them reach further stages of the tournament or play a bad joke and leave them outside the last 16. Les Diables Rouges are the favorites to win the group with 1.57 odds, ahead of Russia with 3.25 odds. South Korea are way down in this respect with 9.00 odds and Algeria received almost impossible odds of 26.00.

Belgium are also considered to be one of the dark horses of the tournament and their line of 21.00 to lift the trophy is way better than for example Italy to win World Cup 2014 odds. Belgians are fifth in line to win in Brazil, having not climbed higher than 4th place, and Italians are 6th boasting 4 titles so far.

South Korea and Algeria are outsiders, but their odds are rewarding

Just like Belgium, Russia are also back to the world football scene for the first time since 2002 World Cup. Interestingly enough, both teams were playing in group stages back then too. It was Marc Wilmots who scored the game winning goal in the 3-2 match against Russia, sending Belgium to the last 16 and Russia home.

Fabio Capello’s men are expected to qualify from any of the two positions with 1.45 odds for those who bet on sports in Belgium, which is a pretty safe bet considering the competition. Odds on Belgium qualifying to the last 16 are even shorter at 1.26, while South Korea are further down the line with 2.75 odds and Algeria got 5.00 odds to make it out of the group.

Both Belgium and Russia revealed impressive form during qualifying winning their respective groups, and Russia even topping Portugal to go straight through to Brazil. That’s why the odds on either of the team placing bottom of the group are way too high: 10.00 for Russia and 26.00 for Belgium. The safest bet in this respect is for Algeria placing bottom – 1.61, while Hong-Myung Bo men’s 3.00 odds are also something to consider.

Another cool wager is to back Les Diables Rouges to generate at least 7 points in three games, which will be a repeat of their unbeaten qualification campaign. This event will pay at 1.91 odds from Bovada, and is a pretty rewarding outcome considering Belgians are strong enough to make it.

Group dual forecast odds are perhaps the most interesting ones for Group H. Russia and Belgium through to the last 16 is the most anticipated event, paying at 1.66 odds. Belgium and South Korea is also possible and will pay at 4.50, while Belgium and Algeria qualifying is less likely and will deliver a 8.50 payout.

Naturally, it is also possible that despite all expectations Belgium will not make it to the knockouts. The odds for Russia and South Korea making it through are 11.00, while in case Russia and Algeria are making it, the bookies will pay at 21.00. And finally the biggest payout is for the event when Algeria and South Korea will top the group – 81.00 odds.

Group H is in the middle of the table considering the chances of becoming the top scoring group. The difference in class between the teams is considerable, but not as big as in some other groups. The odds on Group H outscoring the rest are 7.50.
