Typically, most people would overlook a bet on UK Regional elections. Despite most of the online betting sites in the UK offering odds, they find it somewhat dry. However whilst England offers up little to whet the appetite, Scotland is somewhat different. If you bet on the Scottish elections, you’re all but wagering on them having another referendum on Independence. So in effect you can hit up Bet365 and bet on the vote they’ll have to see if they should have a vote.

It’s almost comical. A brief glance at the odds on the UK regional elections make it obvious what’s going to happen. The dry world of politics is juggling grenades again. Normally you wouldn’t find much to stir the soul within. You won’t find the odds on the London mayoral election very interesting. Sadiq Khan is a shoo-in. Andy Burnham is the same in Manchester. A bet on politics in England then seems a trifle dull. A bet on the Scottish elections, on the other hand…..

Scotland had a vote on independence. They voted, quite narrowly, to remain part of the United Kingdom. Mostly on the proviso that Westminster did a little more listening and was a tad more generous. Naturally, the Conservative government, victory secure, went back to obfuscation and apathy. Anyone in the UK gambling laws made in London would suddenly start living up to the promises was sadly mistaken. So you can bet on the Scottish elections going to the SNP easily.

Boris Johnson Unlikely To Prevent Referendum 2

Now, no one is going to claim the SNP are perfect. It would be a silly wager. No one trying to pick undercover angels would bet on Nicola Sturgeon. However, if you’re going to bet on the Scottish elections you need to bet on the SNP. They’re 1/100 to win. This is mostly because the central pillar of their manifesto is Independence. Again. They want to use the mandate from these elections to hold another independence referendum. Given attitudes have shifted, they’ll get it.

One can already picture the blustering, flag-draped, clichés Boris Johnson will drag out in opposition. He’ll say it’s a waste of time, that they settled the matter. You can bet on Boris Johnson playing every hackneyed Nationalistic trick to head it off. Trouble is if the odds on the Scottish elections are right at online sportsbook sites in the UK like Bet365, he can’t. That’s why you can bet on the Scottish elections to get far more attention than the rest of the races run.

Bet On The Scottish Elections At Bet365

One doesn’t need a massively developed imagination to picture Boris Johnson presiding over a breakup of the Union. Indeed the odds on the SNP leaning on his reputation as ammunition against him are exceedingly low. That’s why a bet on the Scottish elections has to be on the SNP. They need only point to Brexit. His misleading statements beforehand, the debacle of a deal, the horrific economic aftermath. With Boris Johnson at the helm who wouldn’t want to jump ship?

“This is an election. We live in a democracy. For my part, in this campaign, I am focused on the interests of the country.”

  • Nicola Sturgeon – Leader of the SNP

The odds on an independence referendum in Scotland then are quite low, as, frankly, are the odds on independence itself. It might take a while, but they’ll get there. Even if Alex Salmond sticks his oar in. So sure, a bet on the Scottish elections isn’t quite the same as a bet on sports in the UK. Bet365 and Co are cagey with their prices. However, if you enjoy a bet on British politics and like the odds on Boris Johnson leaving Britain a smoldering ruin behind him, now’s the time.
