Betfair gambling giant secures a sponsorship deal with Melbourne Crown Casino for the 2013 Aussie Millions poker tourney.

The upcoming 2013 Aussie Millions poker tournament will be held in Melbourne’s Crown Casino starting on January 17 and going all the way to the final day on February 3. This time around the main sponsor of the event will be Betfair, operating in full compliance with Australian gambling laws.

The world-famous British and Australian gambling operator has signed a sponsorship agreement with Crown Casino to become the Presenting Partner, allowing the brand to enjoy widespread coverage including appearances in various premium locations such as poker tables throughout the tournament area.

Betfair offers the only licensed online sportsbook in Australia. The gambling giant supports different sporting and racing bodies through various sponsorships and product fees payments.

Aussie Millions is a highly popular poker tournament usually gathering the best names in poker from Australia, Asia, USA and Europe. The poker tourney offers limitless online qualifiers and satellites, allowing poker fans to qualify for much less than the $10,000 buy-in for the main event. All in all, the tournament hosts 26 events ranging from shootouts to H.O.R.S.E. besides the popular No Limit Hold ‘Em.

The 2012 Main Event was won by a 26-year-old local player Oliver Speidel, who took home the honors, a bracelet, a glass trophy, a Rolex watch and a hefty $1,600,000 prize after overcoming a field of 659 contestants.

CEO of Crown Casino, Greg Hawkins, had the following comments for Australian gambling news: "The Aussie Millions is Crown’s marquee poker event, and there is terrific alignment between these great, established brands. Sport is an enormous part of Australian culture, and Betfair’s unique betting exchange is a fantastic complement to the Aussie Millions and our poker patrons."
