The BMW PGA Championship was first held in 1955 under the name of the British PGA Championship. So it’s not to be confused with the major tournament in the PGA Tour which is held now in May. The European Tour event has a very illustrious field too including all top players of the season. Like Norwegian Viktor Hovland who has the highest rank in the 144-player field or defending champion Tyrrell Hatton. But Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood, and American Billy Horschel will also visit Surrey this weekend. Where the weather is surprisingly hot at the moment but can change drastically in the next few days. The tournament also offers the last chance to impress the Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington which can give some extra motivation for the players.

Hovland Leads the Odds in the BMW PGA Championship Predictions

Viktor Hovland got his first European Tour victory this summer after winning the 2021 BMW International Open in Germany. This success follows his two other wins in the PGA Tour last year and a T2 finish in this year’s WGC-Workday Championship. Hovland also finished fifth in last weekend’s FedEx Cup final in Atlanta. The only question is how fresh he will be in Wentworth.  But the Norwegian’s current form and 14th place in the world ranking make him the top favorite in this field. Online sportsbooks in the UK offer the odds of 11.00 for his victory.

The BMW PGA Championship predictions mention Shane Lowry as another top candidate to win the tournament. The winner of the 2019 Open Championship was fourth in this year’s PGA Championship. He has been solid all season and got three other top 10 finishers in the PGA Tour.  The Irish golfer missed the final of the playoff last weekend but at least he could celebrate the birth of his second child instead. This can be a big booster for another good performance in Wentworth where he was the runner-up in 2014. His odds to get the win now are 17.00.

BMW PGA Championship Predictions: Hatton, Fitzpatrick, and Rose are Also with a Chance of Winning

Tyrell Hatton won the tournament last year and the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship this January. But since then he hasn’t been in great form. He dropped from 5th to 17th place in the world ranking and didn’t even make the cut on three occasions. So Hatton would need a good result now to guarantee his place in the Ryder Cup team. Just like Matt Fitzpatrick whose last victory is from the 2020 DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. The world No26 was also close to winning in this year’s Scottish Open but had to settle for a T2-finish. A win here could be a good sign for Harrington to include him in his team. Both English players have the odds of 21.00 for a victory.

Online gambling sites in the UK offer the odds of 31.00 for the win of Justin Rose, the former US Open champion. The 41-year-old golfer finished twice as a runner-up in Wentworth which is close to his London home. Rose was 7th in this year’s Masters and T8 in the PGA Championship. A win here could also increase his chances of playing in the Ryder Cup. Christiaan Bezuidenhout got three European Tour victories so far. Now he can easily win his fourth title. The South African golfer will arrive in good form after finishing third in the Korn Ferry Tour Championship last weekend. He was also third in Wentworth in 2019, now his odds to finish on top are 31.00 on bet365.
