In the dazed blur of the New Year’s first weekend there’s a humdinger of a horse race brewing over at Ascot. On the 5th they’ll be going over 2,400m in a race usually held on New Year’s Day itself and the 2019 Perth Cup odds action has been fast and furious with even some of the outside bets shifting around and the upper echelons of opportunities at Bet365 shuffling among themselves almost daily. But, if you like to bet on sports in Australia, which should you back?
Perth Cup 2019
- Ascot Racecourse
- 5th January 2019
- Distance – 2,400m
- Surface – Turf
- Purse – A$500,000
Well in the also ran category Black Attack at 250/1 stands out, as does Mr Alby at 125/1, Dark Musket at 100/1 (the same price as Magical Charm gets) and Burger Time which garners 80/1 and may as well go become a burger instead. Ihtsahymn gets 66/1 and Miracle Man shares the price although there’s far better 2019 Perth Cup odds action further up the field. Dark Prospect, Heart Starter, Juicing Carrots and Reveille getting the same 50/1 as Achernar Star for instance.
2019 Perth Cup Odds – Action 14/1 At Bet365
Naturally backing odds that long is a tad risky, although Brothers Keeper at 40/1 seems no safer and the 33/1 pack of Like A Butterfly, First Affair and Queen Bey are more tempting, especially the latter as an each-way wager. Although ahead of them Royal Star and Prize Catch both get 25/1 and Star Exhibit a really tempting 22/1 which almost eclipses Tally at 20/1. Not that I’d stake much on it winning. Not in this field of funsters.
At 16/1 Khartoum and The Big Show hover just behind the 14/1 2019 Perth Cup odds that Action gets and shares with Elegant Blast and Royal Command who stand about as much chance. None of these are worth to back as a winner, but as a place bet they really are worth taking a look at. Although there are some better placed horses, Perfect Jewel and Cappo Doro at 15/2 on Bet365 just to name a couple of them in the pack.
Could Royal Command Be The Each Way Winner?
Prying Tom and Gatting have both seen their odds slide up to 7/1 of late and that puts them in contention for that on-the-nose wager you want to make. Meanwhile Mississippi Delta has held steady at 9/2 just behind Galaxy Star which has drifted a little to 7/5 which still makes it king of the heap at Bet365 right now but in terms of 2019 Perth Cup odds action there’s probably better risk/reward ratios. That 14/1 Royal Command is getting make it a prime each-way candidate.
The 2019 Perth Cup odds that Action gets might be the same as those on Royal Command but the latter has the better chance, sliding up rather than out, and whilst Prying Tom has also seen its price shorten that could just be jostling in the numbers rather than an indicator of actual chances on the day. One thing is for sure, with so many horses priced so close together this is well worth hitting up Bet365, one of the best online gambling sites in Australia, to bet upon this January.
