PokerScout reported on holiday season drop in online poker traffic figures, predicted by many industry experts

The usual holiday season slow-down in online poker sites traffic was predicted by many renowned industry experts. The latest PokerScout figures confirmed it.

Top 10 online poker sites in United Kingdom and worldwide revealed a drop in traffic equaling to four percent on average over the Christmas period. Overall, online poker traffic decreased by thirty one percent year-on-year due to US federal action and general drop in popularity of the game.

One of the best online poker sites operating in full compliance with British gambling laws, Poker Stars, revealed a 4.3 percent drop. Yet, this can be explained by the end of their 10th anniversary celebratory promotions, which attracted unusually high numbers.

Bodog Poker showed an improvement in traffic since the cool off, which followed the introduction of anonymous tables. Bodog’s online poker traffic increased by two percent over Christmas. Bodog annual traffic rose by fifty one percent.

On a high note, 888poker revealed a seventy nine percent year-on-year increase. Merge Gaming Network saw its traffic grow by seventy five percent. This can be explained by the understandable drops of 100 percent at Full Tilt Poker and ninety nine percent at Cereus Network, “thank you”, Black Friday.

Other losers included Entraction Network with fifty five percent year-on-year drop and International Poker Network going down by forty five percent.

United Kingdom gambling news reported that Action Poker, despite being a small poker site, enjoyed a whopping 183 percent growth. Last, but not least, Yatahay Network showed a seventy seven percent rise in online poker traffic.
