Churchill Downs Starts Developments on Internet Casino Systems

In order to fulfill online casino ambitions, Churchill Downs racecourse employs 30 people to help with realize the internet gaming dream.

The online gaming market is a highly lucrative business, which has also been identified by Kentucky Thoroughbred racecourse Churchill Downs as a new way to generate income. They plans to enter the industry by offering different kinds online games, while also offering an internet alternative to US poker rooms.

The company intended to make the move towards online gaming on a previous occasion, but where left disappointed after an unsuccessful partnership with another firm. Churchill Downs then took legal measures against the potential partner for not being able to meet specific commitments pertaining to the deal.

Chairman is adamant in future success

Chairman and chief executive of Churchill Downs, Bob Evans commented on their future plans for online gambling. “We plan to be a significant player in that. We’ll continue to make investments at about the current rate, at least through the rest of this year, in building the technology platform.”

Gambling news reports that the racecourse firm wanted to enter the New Jersey market with the inefficient partner last April, but couldn’t come to an understanding. A year ago, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority gave the green light for state tax incentives for the ambitious project, while the firm said it could create an additional 50 jobs.
