  • Community Shield game played this Saturday in Wembley Stadium
  • FA Cup winner Arsenal will face Premier League champions Liverpool
  • The Reds are the favorites to win the first game of the season

Though the new Premier League season will only start on the 12th of September, football fans can watch a top game this weekend already. FA cup winner Arsenal will meet the champions, Liverpool on Saturday in the English super cup, the FA Community Shield. Not surprisingly Liverpool are the favorites in the Community Shield betting preview, let’s see the odds for the game.

The first Community Shield game was held in 1908 when Manchester United played against Queens Park Rangers. After a 1-1 draw United won the game on the replay. In a unique way the money from the ticket sales for the game goes to different charities while the revenue from other game related activities is divided between 124 clubs. Manchester City won last year after beating Liverpool 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Now the Reds will have a chance to claim the title following their fantastic last season. They will face Arsenal who won the FA Cup but only finished in 8th place in the Premier League.

Plenty of goals and Liverpool victory are expected in the Community Shield betting preview

Online sportsbooks in the UK are expecting a Liverpool win with the odds of 1,65 at Bet365. The team won the Premier League confidently 18 points ahead of runner-up Manchester City. Under the lead of Jurgen Klopp they were unstoppable but strangely Arsenal managed to beat them 2-1 this July. By that time Liverpool have already won the championship, still it can be a sign that the Gunners might find the recipe against the champions. In that game Arsenal scored two goals following unusual errors by Liverpool players, Virgil van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson. But the Londoners were organized in the back after as well and were able to stop all Liverpool attempts.

Community Shield betting preview
Let’s play!

It’s not likely that we will see similar mistakes from the Reds, though Arsenal can still score. The odds for both teams to score is 1.61 on bet365. While the odds for 3 or more goals is 1.57. Mohamed Salah has the smallest odds, 4.33 to score the first goal ahead of teammates Sadio Mane (5.00) and Divock Origi (5.50). Salah had another great season last year after scoring 19 goals in the league and 4 more in the Champions League. While in Arsenal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the most likely player to score the first goal with the odds of 6.00. The Gunners’ captain is a crucial player in the team who decided to stay at the club for now.

Can be another draw in the Community Shield?

As we mentioned last year Manchester City and Liverpool draw in the normal 90 minutes. The odds for the same result, 1-1 is 8.00 while a Liverpool 2-1 win has the odds of 8.50 at Bet365 in the Community Shield betting preview.  But Arsenal fans can hope in their team’s routine and results in previous Community Shield games. As they have been here three times in the last few years winning on all occasions. Online gambling sites in the UK still don’t give too much chance for their victory with the odds of 5.00 for an Arsenal win.

It’s true that they will face an even more difficult task than against Chelsea and Manchester City in the previous games.  Jurgen Klopp’s side is very strong, even though there hasn’t been too much movement in Merseyside. Only one player has arrived so far, Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos. And three players left the club including Adam Lallana. Meanwhile Mikel Arteta has been trying to strengthen his squad with the signing of several new players. The biggest name so far is Brazilian winger Willian who arrived from Chelsea this month. We shall see which team can focus better and get a good start for their new season.
