DraftKings, FanDuel DFS sites to remain in New York on a permanent basis until legal battle ends.

After a new injunction was made, DraftKings, FanDuel DFS sites to remain in New York was granted until the end of their legal battle vs Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is over, US gambling news report. It comes after New York Supreme Justice Manuel Mendez banned the companies from the Empire State by January.

First, the DFS operators were granted a temporary stay in New York, but the latest injunction to New Yourk’s Supreme Court gave them a permanent stay until the case is concluded. This means that DraftKings and FanDuel can operate in New York at least until May. That will be the time of hearing Schneiderman’s first complaint against the DFS operators.

The Attorney General’s office communicated that they were looking forward to convince the Court that Mendez was right to ban the operations according to US gambling laws.

David Boies, DraftKings’ legal representative expressed that DFS contests are “as legal now as they have been for the past seven years that New Yorkers have been playing them.” He added that these daily fantasy contests require “just as much skill as season-long contests”.
