Whilst a bet on Max Verstappen is a good idea (he has to win sometime, doesn’t he?) Most people expect Mercedes to continue their winning ways this F1 season. They have the best car and, arguably, the best driver. That’s why online betting sites in the UK like Bet365 give them such low odds. However, the ever-competitive Lewis Hamilton only signed a one-year deal. So does this mean he knows something the rest of us don’t? Mercedes would like you to think so.

Once again, ahead of the new F1 season, Mercedes hide their embarrassment by insulting our intelligence. Their Technology Director hinted recently new regulations this year could dislodge Mercedes from their dominant position in the sport. This is true. They could. In the same way aliens could invade or the sun might explode. It’s possible. Just don’t bet on Max Verstappen thinking so. It’s hugely unlikely. Which kind of makes Mike Elliott look a tad disingenuous.

“There are still quite significant aero regulation changes.” He said recently, which is quite true. “Enough certainly that could knock us off our perch.”  Which definitely isn’t. The idea that mere changes to the aero regulations could stop Mercedes dominating the season ahead is madness. Sure, a bet on Max Verstappen gets more attractive F1 odds at online sportsbook sites in the UK like Bet365. Of course, he does. He has significantly less chance of winning than the Mercs.

Mercedes Keep Up Pretense Of Vulnerability

Mercedes tend to do this every season and begin to irritate. Toto Wolff and his team are not beyond barefaced lies. Just ask George Russell. Not that anyone will call them out on this. As the biggest team in the sport they more or less call the shots. The odds on F1 reflect this. Online bookies in the UK will let you bet on Max Verstappen, they just don’t expect him to win. At all. Indeed the only people who seem to think anyone else stands a chance is Mercedes themselves.

Constructors Championship Odds

  • Williams – 1500/1
  • Alfa Romeo – 1000/1
  • Haas – 1000/1
  • Alpha Tauri – 500/1
  • Alpine – 80/1
  • McLaren – 66/1
  • Aston Martin – 66/1
  • Ferrari – 14/1
  • Red Bull – 7/2
  • Mercedes – 1/6

“If you ask anyone that works in F1 they will tell you the start of the year is sort of a mixture of nervous anticipations.” continues Elliot as if Mercedes leave things to chance. “Dread of what you might have missed, and hope for what you’re going to find.” Anyone who regularly likes to bet on sports in the UK at Bet365 will spot this for what it is. It’s a PR man’s wet dream and nothing like the reality. So don’t bet on Max Verstappen to accept this delusional propaganda.

Bet On Max Verstappen Beating Hamilton At Bet365

You can bet on Max Verstappen to know precisely how tough this season will be. The odds on Red Bull make for somber reading. You have to be quite the optimist to bet on Red Bull winning more than a couple of races. Sure, not as optimistic as those who will bet on Ferrari, but even so. Wagers like that are on a Mercedes error, not the skill and success of their rivals. You are, in effect, putting a bet on Lewis Hamilton making a mistake. And Lewis doesn’t make many.

Bet On F1 World Champion

  • Anyone Else – 100/1+
  • Fernando Alonso – 80/1
  • Sebastian Vettel – 80/1
  • Daniel Ricciardo – 50/1
  • Charles Leclerc – 33/1
  • George Russell – 25/1
  • Sergio Perez – 20/1
  • Valtteri Bottas – 9/1
  • Max Verstappen – 5/1
  • Lewis Hamilton – 1/3
  • More odds at bet365…

Now no one minds the odds on Ferrari are laughable, that a bet on Red Bull is perhaps folly. No one minds Mercedes being so dominant. Teams rise and fall all the time in motorsport. It’s the denial of the reality that irks. The pretense they’re under threat and could be beaten at any moment. Those who regularly take advantage of UK gambling laws at Bet365 know that isn’t true. That’s why a bet on Max Verstappen is more fun, more worthy. At least he’s honest with us.
