Gambling law differs the world over regardless as to what a state’s nationals may desire. Hong Kong is a country loaded with gamblers but surprisingly enough, very few betting options are available to citizens.

According to Hongkongese gambling laws, only a few forms of gambling are legal. The most popular is horseracing. There is one casino that belongs to Hong Kong, but it is not actually in the country, per say. The Golden Princess is a cruise ship which houses a casino that can be legally visited by the Hongkongese.

Contrary to the restricting laws that can be found in Hong Kong, gambling proves to be a very popular pastime among its nationals. Around 81% of the adults in Hong Kong claim to have gambled within the last year. This puts Hong Kong at the top of the list of most gambling nations.

Just recently a biopic about Confucius was released starring the Hongkongese actor Chow Yun-fat. This movie came out right at the time that a new lottery was introduced featuring quotes from Confucius. The movie may have helped in marketing the new lottery to a great degree.

In the event that a Hong Kong citizen would like to gamble in his or her free time, the best bet is to go to one of the many online casinos in Hong Kong. These internet casinos are not licensed by Hong Kong, but instead by nations where gambling is legal, and therefore the government has no jurisdiction over them.

Being that there aren’t many opportunities to gamble elsewhere in the country, internet gambling in Hong Kong has grown in popularity. This is likely to remain the case until the government realizes the benefits that it’s missing out on.
