  • Caroline Flack quits Love Island
  • Maya Jama tipped to replace the host
  • Holly Willoughby and Maura Higgins also have a bid

Caroline Flack officially stands down from hosting Love Island ahead of the sixth season premiere. The British TV presenter has addressed the news on her Instagram, confirming her departure from the show. The bookmakers were quick to offer Love Island host predictions with some other ITV associated television personalities on the list.

This follows the reports of Flack being arrested and charged with assault by beating after a fight with her boyfriend. Later Lewis Burton dropped the charges and refused to put more stress on the TV presenter. Despite his courtesy, this incident and overall Caroline’s messy love life eventually jeopardized her career. She is only pulling out of the sixth series, which begins on January 12.  ITV has a long-standing relationship with Caroline and plans to remain in contact with her for the future series of Love Island. Meanwhile, online sportsbook sites in the UK release odds on her successor. Let’s see who will take over the first winter slot.

Love Island is quite a scandalous and controversial reality show. In recent seasons, it received thousands of complaints from the viewers over contestants’ racy antics. Regardless of that, the program still sports high rankings. Following the last run, Caroline Flack received a £1.2 million deal to host two shows a season. Therefore, her position is quite a dream job for local celebrities.

While numerous media reports speculate over Katie Price’s possible candidacy, 1xBET Sportsbook oddsmakers set Maya Jama as a frontrunner of the race. Former presenter of The Circle has received overwhelming support from fans on social media to take the vacancy. Her friends claim it will be her dream job as she is a massive fan of the show. These days Maya is also under the spotlight following her split with rapper Stormzy. She hasn’t had an official request from ITV but will agree should the opportunity come up.

Laura Whitmore is a firm media favorite

Sine Flack’s departure, the online sportsbook news in the UK has been heavily backing Laura Whitmore to host the show. Reportedly, ITV is gearing up to announce the Irish presenter as Caroline’s successor because they are keen to keep it in the family.

Laura is good friends with the former host and she is dating the show’s voiceover, Iain Stirling. She already knows the crew well through Iain. Moreover, ITV bosses want Laura and Iain to co-present the spin-off show, Aftersun, on Sunday nights as they have a great dynamic. Laura, who has a squeaky-clean image, is a safe choice for the channel.

Maura Higgins rumored to return to the show

Before Caroline officially resigned from Love Island, some fans suspected Maura Higgins was being lined up to take over. The fifth season contestant has been a fan-favorite during her stint at the show. Even then, the viewers suggested she replace Flack as she has what it takes to bring angst into the show. Maura’s odds were slashed to 5.00 after she shared a photo of herself jet setting to “shoot something very exciting”.

Holly Willoughby bids for another takeover

This Morning and Dancing on Ice host Holly Willoughby is another contender to leave for Cape Town. She is highly popular among the British audience and has a joyful vibe to run any show. Albeit the 9.00 odds rate is a risky bet, Willoughby has the experience to take a job on short notice. Last year she was chosen to step in for Ant McPartlin on I’m A Celebrity when he took a hiatus.

Holly is close friends with both Ant and Declan Donnelly. That meant there was a sense that she was keeping his seat warm, rather than taking over. Considering Flack’s departure is temporary, her ITV peers would not want to cause any sort of rivalry. Holly has a permanent job as a presenter for two shows, so she is unlikely to take another gig permanently.
