Man City will face the Spurs in the first match of the Premier League weekend that promises to showcase some of the best talents of the top flight.

After a two week absence domestic competitions all across Europe are back on again. International football proved to be entertaining as national teams battled one another to push forward with their qualifiers for EURO 2016 in France. However now is the time to get back to business for club teams to continue their title challenge for the Premier League.

The English top flight kicks off with a game that looks to be a thrilling encounter between current title defenders Man City and a team that is trying to break into the top four, Tottenham Hotspur. From the looks of it the Sky Blues boast a much stronger team that can cause some serious damage, however they home record is not so convincing which may alert the Spurs to try and pull off a surprise.

Manchester City struggled previously at home

The Citizens are currently in second place behind leaders Chelsea with 14 points. They have made a good start to the season, however some football critics have outlined that they should have performed better in recent matches. Their away record is impressive with 3 wins and 1 draw, however City were unable to replicate that same form at their home ground Etihad considering they only managed 1 win, 1 draw and 1 unfortunate loss.

• The Spurs will try to pull off a surprise win at the Etihad

• Man City favorite in the encounter despite bad home record

• The Citizens have a much stronger squad than the Spurs in all areas

• Aguero looking to put his name on the scoresheet

These stats may linger in the players’ minds during the game which may give a psychological boost to the opposition. Despite this, online sportsbooks in the UK have outlined City as favorites for the encounter with Bet365 giving them 1.50 (1/2) for a win. The Sky Blues have a formidable squad at their disposal, which boasts the likes of Aguero, Dzeko, Yaya Toure, Silva, Kompany, Demichelis and other prominent and very expensive stars.

They maintain immense depth which provides them with a solid backbone. If one player does not perform his bets during a game, he can be replaced with another star of equal or something even superior quality. Tottenham don’t have the same luxury and it might mean the difference between winning and losing for them. Currently, Spurs’ main attacker is Adebayor who has so far scored 1 goal in two appearances, which doesn’t make for a convincing record.

Tottenham manager outlines the main danger they will face

Tottenham currently sit in 6th place in the Premier League with 11 points from seven games. While playing away from home they have managed to capture one win and two draws, without suffering a single loss, according to gambling news. This will greatly play to their psychological advantage against City as they will attempt to maintain the away stats and potentially improve upon it.

Spurs’ Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino has done a solid job so far but he know that the club’s chairman Daniel Levy is almost never content and will have to improve if he is to keep his job for the long run. The manager is quite aware of the danger that is ahead of them in today’s clash and was quick to praise Man City striker and fellow Argentine Aguero as one of the most potent and majestic players that they will have to face.

He likened the attacker to Mozart for his sublime touch on the ball and deadly finishing which has already netted him 5 goals in 7 appearances. “When he plays it is like classical music in my head. It is unbelievable. I think he is the best striker in the world. For me, he is. I love Aguero. It’s like Mozart. Seriously. It is positive. Not Beethoven. Beethoven is too crazy.”

Knowing just how lethal Aguero is in front of goal, Pochettino has outlined him as the main attacking threat that will have to neutralized by the Spurs defense. “We need to make it difficult for him, to make the game difficult, to avoid the possibilities of him scoring.” In fact mobile betting provider Bet365 favors him to be on the scoresheet for the Citizens during the match 1.73 (8/11), so placing a wager on him might prove lucrative.
