SportPesa launched in Kenya, offering local sports fans the chance to bet on their favorite games and win instant cash via mobile and online platforms.

The online and mobile betting platform is the first of its kind in the African nation, and offers a real-time sports betting experience for users in Kenya and East Africa.

The creators gathered to launch the gaming platform in Nairobi on Saturday February 1st, and the company behind it – Pevans East Africa Limited – were delighted with the launch.

“It is a sports entertainment and gaming platform built to engage fans and enhance the viewing experience across a multi-range of channels,” said Director David Kanyeki.

African gambling on the up

This isn’t the first piece of positive gambling news to come out of Africa, however, as there have been a number of recent launches and changes that have bought new games and new platforms to Africa’s sports betting and casino fans.

After the launch of a new Tanzanian online casino, the first online sportsbooks in Kenya, EliteBet, launched in January, and the gambling is really starting to take off on the continent.

With new sportsbooks in the works in South Africa and Nigeria, as well as the new sports lotteries in Morroco, it’s certainly exciting times to be an African gamer. Pevans East Africa will be hoping that their launch – taking advantage of the millions of feature phones across the continent – will be the most successful yet.
