With Aidy Boothroyd stepping down as England U21s head coach, the FA has begun the recruiting process for his replacement. There are a number of high-profile names featuring at the next England U21 manager betting. Two from the hierarchy Lee Carsley and Justine Cochrane, and two outsiders Jody Morris and Frank Lampard.

Aidy Boothroyd’s tenure as England U21 boss will officially end in the summer. He decided to leave after the team was knocked out of the European U21 Championship group stages in March. It was a big disappointment but not new as Boothyord oversaw the team’s exit from the Euro 2019 group stage.

No doubt that Boothyord’s time has come to an end and a new England U21 manager is desperately needed. But, the FA seems interested in a number of high-profile candidates, as per online sportsbook news in the United Kingdom. Some of them are already employed by the FA like Lee Carsley and Justin Cochrane. While there are few others who enjoy admiration such as Frank Lampard and his former assistant Jody Morris.

Jody Morris’s last job was at Chelsea alongside Lampard

The former midfielder of Chelsea, Leeds United, Rotherham United, Millwall, St Johnstone and Bristol City has been building his coaching career. He spent four years coaching at Chelsea’s Academy. He was first an assistant coach of the U18 team, then in 2016, he moved to head coach the team until 2018.

At Derby County, he was a part of Frank Lampard’s management staff. When Lampard joined Chelsea, Morris became a key member of the backroom staff at Stamford Bridge. He then left when Lampard was sacked a couple of months ago. His resume looks impressive. Therefore his odds are 8/1 to become the next England U21 manager, according to BetVictor.

Lee Carsley is currently England’s U20 manager

The last two England U21 appointments have been from within the national set up including Gareth Southgate and Aidy Boothroyd. Thus, there is speculation by online sportsbooks in the United Kingdom that those in power will adopt a similar approach this time. It basically brings up Lee Carsley among the favorites with 6/1 odds.

Carsely, the former Ireland star, is currently England's U20 head coach from 2020. Before that, he was England’s U21 assistant manager to Aidy Boothroyd. The experience and recognition within the organization will likely give him a chance for the job.

Justin Cochrane has a strong resume

The other high-profile name within the organization is Justin Cochrane. He started his pro coaching career with Tottenham where he spent nine years at the academy in various age groups up to the U23s. In 2018 he became in charge of England U15s, he then stepped up to U16s, and now U17s. So, his career development should naturally give him a chance, and you can place a next England U21 manager betting with a 3/1 value.

Frank Lampard did not make his mind yet

Chelsea Legend took some time resting after he left the club. He did very well improving the Chelsea team. Before that he guided Derby County to the Championship play-off final. No doubt that Lampard will be seriously considered with 3/1 odds to take the job. But, you should keep in mind that it is unclear yet whether Lampard will prefer club football or not.
