  • Next Queensland’s LNP leader to be elected in coming weeks
  • Tim Mander bowed out that he would not contest the leadership
  • David Crisafulli confirmed his intention to run

Bookmakers have already put up a list for the next Queensland LNP leader odds. It comes one day after LNP leader Ms. Frecklington announced she will step down. Two key names are on top of the list including MP David Crisafulli and the deputy leader Tim Mander.

Online sportsbook news in Australia began speculating about the next LNP’s leader. The top two candidates are the deputy leader Tim Mander and the LNP member of Broadwater David Crisafulli, as per the next Queensland LNP leader odds. Besides three men have put their hands up for the deputy leader’s role. They are South Toowoomba MP and shadow attorney general David Janetzki, Moggill MP Christian Rowan, and Burdekin MP Dale Last. However, the bookies did not yet offer odds for the deputy leadership contest.

Queensland’s opposition leader Deb Frecklington announced she will step down on November 02. She also announced she will not run as a candidate at the upcoming leadership contest. Her announcement came after the Liberal National Party lost up to four seats at the state election. With such a disappointing result, Ms. Frecklington decided to convene the party room meeting in the coming weeks to appoint a new leader.

Tim Mander is bowing out

The deputy opposition leader and shadow treasurer Tim Mander bowed out that he would not contest the leadership or the deputy leadership. He confirmed he will not put his hand up as a contender. Besides, he effectively stepped down from his deputy leader’s role. Yet online sportsbooks in Australia still consider him the second favorite. At 22BET Sportsbook Mr. Mander values 4 to become the LNP next leader.

Mr. Mander has been an LNP member of Everton since 2012 and he served as a minister for housing and public works. Before politics, he was the CEO of a youth and children’s organization. Mr. Mander bowed out because his association with the losing campaign will probably count against him. Yet, it remains to be seen if he will come back to the race or not.

David Crisafulli confirmed his candidacy

The 41-year-old LNP member of Broadwater David Crisafulli confirmed his intention to run in the contest. He will be running on a platform to prepare LNP for the government in 2024, according to ABC. So far he is the top favorite at the next Queensland LNP leader odds with a value of 1.2.

Mr. Crisafulli served in Campbell Newman’s cabinet during the 2012-2015 LNP government. After being ousted from the Townsville-based seat in 2015, he moved to the Gold Coast and was elected to the seat of Broadwater in 2017. Should Mr. Mander remain out of the contest, Crisafulli will most likely become the next LNP leader.
